it does not need it own channel you can hook your powered studio speakers XLR inputs into the back of this subwoofer

Q: does it support 240v? I will mainly use this in Hong Kong

I have it on 240 V in Europe. But always check the specs, not sure if there are different models.

Yes, amazon just lists it as HS8 Studio which is what the S stands for.

Q: Do you need a subwoofer if your only planning on buying the 5” monitors?

Depends on your needs. If you don’t want to hear the lower bass and sub frequencies then no.
