Litter Champ Premium Odor-Free plastic Cat Litter Disposal System,4 gallon, Gray

I read reviews that described the odor that you smelled when you opened the lid to put more waste directly into the container. Others had an issue with flies/maggots. I solved this also. I put my waste into a plastic grocery bag (good reuse), twisted the top & rebagged by putting the bottom with the waste back into the top part I just twisted. Now it is essentially double bagged. Then I open the container & put my bag of waste into the container's interior bag. It does not totally eliminate the odor when you open the door but it is so different than if you just put your waste directly into the container unbagged. The interior bag is so easy to pull out & cut on the provided cutter. Then just tie the bag you took out & tie the bottom of the interior bag you just cut. So simple & easy. *** edit - I have a Simple Human trash can & buy their really good trash bags. Instead of the product’s interior bag system, which I liked - I now use my Simple Human trash bags as my interior bags. That way I only have one item to order & store. I’m sure other trash bags will work as well. Then I put my “Walmart bags” inside with the waste. One reviewer suggested putting a paper towel inside the bottom, under the container's bag with a little tea tree oil (helps with bacteria). I did this & think that also helps with the odor. You could sprinkle a few drops of whatever your favorite oil is. I use the Breeze Litter System & I have no issue with putting the pad into the grocery bag with the waste & then into the container's interior bag. You might think the size of the pad would be an issue but it falls in with no trouble. It works wonderfully. I share an outdoor trash can with my landlord & it is a good walk away. Before I ordered this, I used to do my little double bag inside itself trick & put it in the hall until I went downstairs & out to the trash can. The hall would smell like kitty poop. Now, I just bag it & drop it into the container. Then a couple of times a week I take the container bag (filled with all my waste bags inside) to the main trash can. It also helps with the odor in the outside can because it is all bagged inside the larger bag. I hope this is helpful. For me, this is a real game changer in cleaning my litter box & disposing of the waste with little odor & lots of saved trips to the trash can. My only regret is that I didn't know about it sooner!

I received this item on November 8th and put it into service right away. It is simple to use, and from the first moment I liked it. We have 7 indoor cats with 3 litter boxes. Normally, we empty the boxes twice a day, and dispose of it into a pail designated for this purpose outside our back door. Once it gets dark, the kids use this excuse to avoid their chore. Keeping the Litter Champ right by the litter boxes has solved this problem. We empty the boxes into a plastic bag (the ones you use in the produce aisle at the supermarket. They are very willing to sell these to you by the roll) using a metal scoop. I find that the metal ones clean easier and do a more thorough job. I then tie the plastic bag closed and drop into the litter champ. There is no unpleasent odor at all, except for the few moments after having just used it. It is very simple to tie up the bag on garbage night and get rid of it. I find that now, I empty the boxes much more frequently, and there is no waste of the bag, because you cut it at the point necessary. Beware that the bag can become heavy if you use clumping litter and let it get all the way full. Having learned this the hard way, I scoot a kitchen garbage bag underneath the interior bag, so that if it breaks there isn't a huge mess. I realize that I have negated all the biodegrable selling points to this product, but much prefer that the can stay sanitary as it is inside my home. We empty the litter champ twice a week on garbage night. (keep in mind that using bags each litter emptying takes up more room inside) and scoop 4 to 5 times daily, after 7 cats, times 3 litter boxes, and I just ran out of my initial roll of bags that came installed in the litter champ. So, we got 34 days with 1 bag!!! I am delighted with this product. Have since bought one for my elderly father, who has 2 cats of his own. I have every confidence that he will have absolutely no trouble using it, and will no longer have to go outside in inclement weather to dispose of the cats business. Do not hesitate to purchase this product. It solves many of the problem associated with keeping the litter area clean. UPDATE 2 23-2013 Two years later my Litter Champ is still working out great! we adopted my fathers two cats last year, so now have nine indoor only cats. this litter Champ is still like brand new and works perfectly. I have long since stopped using the refill bags, now using hefty black odorblock tall kitchen bags. they work much better, and three times a week, we remove the bag, tie it up and leave it for pickup on garbage night. so for us, our winning formula is: a good metal scoop, plastic produce bags that I purchase from the grocery store. each time we scoop, it goes into these bags, they are tied closed and dropped through the inner hatch door. remove inner bag as needed. If you use this this way, you will have no issues at all!

So glad we decided to go with the litter champ. It’s a little bit more expensive than the usual competitors but the quality be usability makes up for that. Here some pros: //The smell is properly sealed in. //Disposing the litter into the bin is without any contact using the foot pedal. //The varying handel is practical pick up the bin when for example vacuuming or moving the bin closer to the litter box. //needless to say the lining is great at helping seal odor and easy to cut and tie off. No spillage. //comes with its very own shovel with a long grip and shape that allows for a tidy disposal. Con: //the shovel holes are too large and smaller lumps fall through. I use the previous model’s shovel because it has smaller holes; better for sifting. In total it was money well spent.

Tengo variis gatos y este cubo es ideal para evitar el mal olor que desprende los areneros al limpiarlos. Tiro la bolsa cuando está llena porque al no oler, no me acuerdo de tirarla antes. Tiene una durabilidad de años. Genialll

I used to flush cat waste down the toilet but after finding out how dangerous this was I really wanted to change to a more eco friendly option. We live in a flat above a shop so popping outside to the bin isn’t super easy or quick. This product has been a lifesaver. I’m able to freshen up the litter tray by removing clumps and waste rather than having to change the whole tray as often. There is no smell and I can leave the bin for a couple of weeks before I need to change it - we have two cats btw! Of course when the bin is opened to be changed there is a smell but that is to be expected. Extremely user friendly, would never go back to life without it!!
