A book I could not put down!A girl looks after her brothers’ dog and house and care-takes a mansion for him whist he is away. She has had a traumatic marriage that has ended violently and she needs to sort herself out a little and recover from her injuries.The old house holds more than dust and she connects with someone who used to live there and has a story to tell in several different ways- the discovery of a diary being the opening part.A medium, a killer, a notorious killer from the past, a touch of humour and a touch of romance makes this a very endearing book.It holds you from the first page to the last. Alternating between “then and now” but not confusingly so.Several stories are told: Who lived at the house and what happened in the late 1800’s, the current mystery of a missing girl and some “odd” murders, and Annie’s story- her past and current life.A highly recommended read which is not as scary as I thought it would be- some light hearted parts with a brilliant plot.

I couldn’t put this book down it was gripping from start to finish. I stayed up readying until 3:07 am last night because I couldn’t wait to find out what happened at the end. Fantastic book and I have had to buy all the detective Morgan series books now too

I gave up on this book I just couldn't get in to it . Didn't like the characters and didn't enjoy the story at all.
