Q: I have heard this is not safe for shrimp and i need thrive s but can't find it anywhere. anyone know a good source?

Thrive and Thrive+ are both shrimp safe, but there does seem to be a lot of confusion regarding them and ThriveS. ThriveS is designed to be used in tanks where shrimp are the primary focus, but for people who still want to dose nutrients for the plants. Its primary advantage is that it doesnt require additional water changes over what would already be done on a shrimp tank. Thrive and Thrive+ are designed to be used on planted tanks but are still safe for shrimp and other inhabitants. Thrive/Thrive+ will increase the necessity for water changes(suggested weekly 50% water changes if you are dosing the full amount). If you are looking for ThriveS it can be found on my website, but it will be available on Amazon shortly.

Q: can this be used with house plants?

Q: Could you use this during a dry start, such as when you are misting the plants?

If you're using a substrate with a high CEC such as Eco-complete, then this could maybe start fertilizing for rooted plants to draw from when you flood. Plants that uptake the majority of their nutrients from the water column obviously wouldn't benefit from this during your DSM.

Q: Should I get the thrive or thrive + for an aquarium without shrimp? Currently have neon tetras, guppies, clown pleco, and an African dwarf frog.

Regular Thrive is a great general use version. Thrive + is typically for a co2 injected tank with a lower ph. Although i use regular Thrive in both co2 injected and non co2 injected tanks with great success.
