I've used it for a couple days now and it helped with the swelling and the pain. I didn't use the internal applicator, just smeared it on the outside. I've applied a little amount at times, other times a lot---I haven't felt a bad burning sensation, just soothing and cooling. The texture of the ointment is greasy, so do scrub it off well with warm water and soap. The smell isn't as bad as other reviewers make it sound---it smells like an herbal shop. Maybe because I grew up going to Chinese and Korean herbal medicinal shops, when I was little and thus it doesn't bother me. Honestly, stop worrying about the smell and if others can smell it; who cares if they do? This is about you and your health, not their judgement. Anyways, it has decreased the amount of swelling and pain. I'll attempt to update in a month.

Like many other people reviewing this product, I came to Amazon in, more or less, a state of desperation trying to find something to help me with an extremely awful case of hemorrhoids. I'm 47, have had an occasional case of hemorrhoids flare up over the years, but I was normally able to deal with them by using a common over the counter product like Preparation H, trying to take in a little extra fiber, and just being gentle with that area. But, for whatever reason, this time around the problem just got worse and I've been battling my hemorrhoids for the last 6 months or so. Like many others, it has been a bit of a nightmare. The pain of trying to go to the bathroom, along with bloody stools, and the constant itching and discomfort, was horrible. Up until this product, I had tried just about everything I could think of. Some of these products included Preparation H suppositories and creams, triple antibiotic ointments, Vaseline, Lotions, Aloe Vera, and Desitin, among others. Sometimes I'd get a little relief, but it was only temporary and I never came close to totally eliminating the problem. I was at the point of heading to the doctor as a last resort and thought I'd just see what was on Amazon, thinking maybe there would be something I hadn't tried yet. That's how I stumbled onto this product. Like many people, I'm about as skeptical as they come, and although I had some hope that the bold claims users were making about this product might be true, I stayed very cautiously optimistic. Well, it's been a little over a week now, and I am now one of the believers! This stuff is truly amazing! Even after a day of using it, I kind of felt like it was helping a little, but I figured maybe that was just wishful thinking. But, after 2 days, I could already tell that things were improving. After about 3 days of use, I noticed that all the the bleeding had completely gone away. And, by a week, I am pretty much back to normal. I am blown away with how well this product worked. I have to give J. Alvarez credit from his/her review on 12/30/09. I used the same strategy he/she suggested as it seemed to look very logical to me. Thus, I bought a container of Tuck's Medicated Pads: TUCKS MED PADS 100 EACH , and the Sugar-Free Medamucil Pysillium Fiber Supplement: Metamucil Multi-Health Fiber by Meta, Orange Smooth Sugar Free 114 Teaspoons 23.3 Oz . I took a serving (2 teaspoons) of the Medamucil 2 or 3 times a day - usually in the morning and in the evening, and sometimes in the afternoon as well. I do think it helped to soften the stools a bit and just keep me more regular (that is, going more frequently and less hard). The Tucks pads are also great for when you go to the bathroom, or really anytime you are feeling a little itchy. The witch hazel does work to help with the itchiness. Basically, what I did was use this product at least 3 times a day, and after every time I went to the bathroom. After my bowel movement, I would wipe very gently with a baby wipe to do the bulk of the cleaning, and then use a few Tucks pads to finish the job -- again, very gently. Then, I would apply about a 3/4" strip of this product to my area. This along with the Medamucil worked amazingly well. But, I truly give this product the bulk of the credit. It's great because it's not as greasy and oily as the Preparation H type products out there. It is still an ointment, and it goes on smoothly, but it never gets wet, nor does it give you that slimy feeling in your butt. And, it also has a nice soothing and cooling effect to it, which I really like a lot. It's become a little bit of a joke in some of these reviews, regarding the smell, but it's not bad at all. It's hard to describe, but it has an herbal odor mixed with a kind of menthol or eucalyptus smell. It is a little different, but let's be honest -- if it gets rid of your hemorrhoids, do you really care? I didn't. But, the bottom line is that this product really works amazingly well, and I can't recommend it highly enough. If you're like I was, in a lot of pain and really suffering, not knowing what to do, I would absolutely give this a shot. I can't guarantee that it will work for everyone, but it worked exceptionally well for me, and it sure beats contemplating surgery. I'm back to life with no pain, and not thinking about my rear-end constantly.

The unique smell is WORTH the pain relief. I have not found a better product to reduce swelling, pain amd discomfort. Yes, the tube is small, but you need VERY LITTLE, to see good results. TMI- Suggestion: Put a small amount of the cream on a square of toilet tissue and gently apply the tissue to the hemmroids like a mini compress. As hemmroids decrease in size the tissue will absorb extra product and just fall off next time you use the bathroom. I found doing it that way decreases smell issue as well.

Well, this isn't something that anyone ever wants to talk about. I was certainly not looking forward to discussing it with my doctor. However, if you've ever had a thrombosed hemorrhoid, you quickly learn that you're willing to shout it from the rooftops if it means getting help. After a bad stomach virus, I woke up with a massive thrombosed hemorrhoid about two weeks ago and found it difficult to sit, walk, or even sleep. I'm a very shy person and I was mortified at the idea of having to go to the doctor over this. Enter the strange Chinese remedies! I've never been much for herbal medicine, but it was cheap and had a lot of good reviews. To start out with, yes, this stuff really does smell like a cross between vicks vapor rub and a stale eggroll. It's not pleasant at all. It burned a bit going on, but it wasn't unmanageable. It did make it itch the first few applications. Within a week, it was no longer painful or tender but still definitely there. It's been two weeks now and I'm still on my first tube (there are three in the box). It's almost gone and totally painless and I have to remind myself to use it. I'm not really sure if the medicine does much other than sooth and give your body time to heal. I do know that it offered a ton of relief during the pain stage even though the tingling was uncomfortable. It's definitely not *fast*, but I was mostly pain free by my second day of taking it so I'm mostly just waiting for the bump to go away. In 10 days, it is probably 75% gone and it was huge before.

Great find after lots of browsing. This formulation of natural ingredients was just what I was looking for as cream or ointment. I got hemorrhoids recently and initially did not know if internal, external, or both and with fissures. This ointment provides relief on application and continues to work... It was getting worse with waiting. After trying regular OTC stuff, there are limited items on the shelf there. I did find some things online. Mainly, it is important to use both internal and external treatment to make this effective and faster. Internally I started with suppositories, both prepH and anusol. Then started with sitz baths, wipes with with hazel. Using vaseline, etc. As for diet, more water, more fiber, softer foods, etc. I have been using prepH suppositories, followed by anusol suppositories (has zinc, bismuth), and then using this musk ointment before and after for external treatment. Overnight it helped and it was a better next-day. Have been using this several times a day as calamine does absorb/dry up over time. Though calamine is zinc oxide, it has different properties. It works well as an astringent. Soaking/wipes with witch hazel is another key part of the process. So the combination of that for cleaning, preparation with hazel astringent or vasoconstrictor (prepH), and then applying this ointment is very effective throughout the day. And after emptying, go with the suppositories or try this ointment with the provided long applicator. This ointment is easy to apply. Now the color and smell is expected.... Pink color is due to the ferrous content in calamine and the smell is of camphor (minor ingredients list). Note that the ointment will get on the underwear. This can be controlled several ways: stick on a panty liner on on underwear. put a small tissue between cheeks, or try wiping. This ointment can play an important role in controlling the situation. Happy that these ingredients are available as a formulation. The 3 smaller tubes is very helpful as we can keep one for on-the-go as well. This specific ointment will also work for burns, and ivy (if needed). It is very functional, practical, and with known natural ingredients. As a bonus, the fact sheet and instructions includes English. I look forward to faster successful healing. This is good value for the money.

Worthless ointment, does absolutely nothing to shrink the hemrroid at all. Either mist of these reviews are fake or they just want to believe this stuff is working, I used it for 1 week thus far and seen no change at all, I have had hemrroids in and off for 25 years due to weight lifting, I quit weight lifting over 8 years ago but still get a roid from time to time , I have had 3 of them cut open and clot removed , so I'm no rookie when it comes to experience with these things, I have been to many specialist, and tried everything you can think of, nothing works , tge only thing I found that worked for me was taking 2 capsules of butchers root on a daily basis, but I stopped taking it because it was breaking my face out, but, for me when I did get a roid it lasted for 3 weeks then would go away, I got the roids down to shrinking in a 2 week period by using a receipt of a turmeric herb powder and mustard oil mixture and heating it up then putting it on a cotton ball and applying it directly to hemrroid every two hours, one time it shrunk the quarter size roid in 3 days , the only bad thing was about that mixture was it stains your clothing and skin, but it worked for me, so I'm for sure going back to that method, this ma ying ointment is garbage in my opinion , most reviews state it relieved there roids in 3 weeks but that's not good because 90℅ of people who get roids the roids are gone in 3 weeks anyways, who wants to suffer for 3 weeks with this growth hanging out your anus and thumping all day , not me that's for sure, so therefore I want it gone in a few days or at the most a week, I take the turmeric pill which I got from the vitamin shop its a herb that keeps blood flow to your viens , a hemrroid is basically a vein that gets swallon and pops out your anus, the only method that works for me is using the powder and oil , when I used the turmeric pills with the butcher root I never got a roid but I had to deal with my face breaking out, but to be honest I would rather deal with my face breaking out then these awful roids, I'm not saying that my method will work for you but it sure worked for me and let me tell you I have had at least 47 hemrroids in a 25 year period, but in my opinion this ma ying stuff is garbage, if it don't shrink the roid in a week or less then its no good in my option.

Bought it to try, with some doubts as to consistency and quality given the source, but with hopes due to respect for dying these days but still very sophisticated traditional Chinese medicine. Long time ago read about certain methods in Chinese medicine for removing hemorrhoids - special cream is applied which causes hemorrhoids do dry out and fall off practically painlessly, somewhat similar to what ligation procedure does but with no accompanied pain. Who knows now what that cream was but this one ain't it. No wonder though, since sophistication of this formula extends mostly to having only two components - Calamine (thats Zinc derivative) and just lubricating oil - as active ingredients. Other are non-active ingredients like Synthetic Musk (how the Ma Ying family several hundreds years ago could create anything 'Synthetic'? ) seems dont do much. So yes, Calamine is used in many cremes as anti-itching, no breakthrough here and Petrolatum sure is used for lubrication and so may have some soothing effect. But nothing groundbreaking. Generally, the more effective formulas in Chinese medicine involve at least 5-6 ingredients (and more), to create a balanced noticeable effect and hardly anything 'synthetic'. So no surprise that I did not really feel much of a difference using this creme - it did not make things worse and it did help a little in soothing inflammation when I had another flare. Saying that, an obvious thing - most flares go away on their own after a while. If they went away after you applied this cream that does not mean they went away BECAUSE of the cream, but many people might believe it to be the case. Hence I dont put much value in some of the glorious reviews I see here. Bottom line - from my experience this cream did not really heal anything, certainly did not reduce my hemorrhoids but did not make things worse, either, maybe only slightly soothed the flare and moisturized the area. Maybe more effective with external hemorrhoid (I only have internal). Im trying some other creams, with seems have more interesting ingredient combination, but with quality control doubtful and claims unverifiable it seems the only true way to treat these things is going through ligation procedure.
