Twenty years after the death of gladiator Maximus, his son Lucius is captured in Carthage when it falls to the Romans. Trained as a gladiator and brought back to fight in the Colosseum as an anonymous barbarian, Lucius quickly gains notoriety and becomes the center of a power struggle for the very fate of Rome. Review: Epic, Thrilling, and a Must-Have Collector’s Edition - Gladiator II is absolutely epic! The story is intense and full of action, with stunning visuals that look incredible in 4K. The Blu-ray and digital copies make it easy to watch anywhere, and the overall presentation feels like a true collector’s edition. Thrilling from start to finish. I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen. Highly recommend for fans of action and historical dramas! Review: good quality - good quality good sound and picture

Good movie, but not quite as good of a story as first one.
As my title says, as a stand alone movie, and had this been the only Ridley Scott Gladiator film, it would have been a masterpiece, but because we have the first one to compare it to, it falls a bit short is as the story itself isn't quite as strong as the first one. Don't get me wrong, it's still pretty good, just not quite as emotionally grabbing as the first. It basically picks up about 15 years after the first one, if memory serves, where the "Maximus" gladiator in this one turns out to be Maximus' son from the first film, and he's now the slave in Gladiator school after being captured in battle. The reveal of this plot point was rather well done, in my opinion. It harkined back to the original film with the same motion that Maximus used in the arena. The action scenes in this film are pretty good, but we've seen similar before in the 300 films, and other Greek/Roman period pieces. So they weren't all that ground breaking. I'll just say this, the film as a whole was pretty good, just not as original as it could have been.

Caution! Amazon lumps together similar items in the review. If the exact model is not listed in the review, the reviews may not be for the particular item you want. If the search function doesn’t find what you request, Amazon will still present a few pages of junk you don’t want instead of honestly saying they don’t have that. I watched the movie Gladiator II on 4k Blue Ray. It was shipped quickly and arrived with no damage. I liked that the story continued the story line of the original.

IF you already saw Gladiator 1... DON'T BOTHER SEEING THIS ONE!!
I had great anticipation in viewing this movie. I could have bought it via Prime TV for $4.99 to Rent, $6.99 to buy, or buy the physical DVD for $16.99. My mindset was to create my own "Box-Set" since I already own and love Gladiator I with Russel Crowe. Wish I only rented it due to the fact that it was only a 3 out of 5 stars AT BEST. Paul Mescal (Lucius) had adequate moments in mostly his fight scenes but other than that I think he was poorly cast and his acting was tired and flawed. Even Denzel Washington isn't going to escape my review - Make no mistake, I am a Denzel fan. Loved everything he did... Until now. Clearly the creators of the Gladiator 2 didn't do their homework because the NY Post only gave his Broadway play "Othello" starring Denzel 2 out of 5 stars. It was clear that Denzel is out of his comfort zone, (or maybe beyond his ability) to play a role in ancient Roman times. He simply wasn't believable, and at times looked silly. As for actress Connie Nielson (Lucilla). Her acting was at times almost a carbon copy of her performance in Gladiator 1. It was a quality performance but very predictable. ON THE BRIGHT SIDE, Pedro Pascal, Lior Raz (Love everything Raz has done since "FAUDA") , and the two Ceasars all gave excellent performances through and through and worth the price of admission. My suggestion is DO NOT SEE Gladiator 1 prior to Gladiator 2. IF you see it as a stand alone movie without any predispositions as a sequel to Gladiator 1 you will enjoy it much more. This is WebbMan signing off, and Thanks for reading my review!

Gladiator is an awsome movie, I'm sure you all know this. Gladiator 2 I thought was a middling affair good action but pales in comparison to the first film. But some region advice to those thinking to purchase from outside the US. I tested the blu-ray discs on a Pioneer BDP-150 set to each region. 4K of course are region free. Gladiator has both Blu-ray discs locked at Region A (so Europe and Asia are out of luck unless you have a multi region player). Gladiator II are region free blu-ray discs so sadly the lesser film has the most freedom to view globally. Region locking an arena where our gladiators have not yet won.

By the gods, I scarcely believe what my eyes have beheld. I, Gaius Dramaticus, humble historian of the Republic (and part-time olive salesman), have viewed the sacred relic known as Gladiator II—encased in a circular mirror disc, surely forged by Vulcan himself and played upon a magic oracle known as a “Sony.” This tale, while not found in the dusty scrolls of Tacitus or Pliny, hath captured my imagination like a lion traps a sleepy senator. It begins years after the noble Maximus became one with Elysium, yet somehow, battle returns to the arena with even more sand, sweat, and slow-motion spear twirling. New champions arise! One is a mysterious warrior called “Cassius the Brooding,” who fights in leather armor so tight it could only have been stitched by the Fates. Another, “Lucilla the Furious,” rides a war elephant through the Forum for reasons unclear, yet deeply inspiring. The battles are mighty, the drama thick, and the soundtrack… oh, the soundtrack! ‘Tis like Apollo himself dropped the lute and picked up an electric lyre. Bonus scrolls (or “DVD extras” as the local scribes say) include: • Commentary from the director, who appears to be drinking goblets of modern-day Red Bull. • An animated feature called Baby Maximus and Friends, which is both confusing and delightful. • Deleted scenes including a philosophical soliloquy delivered by a horse. Truly, I wept. Not since the fall of Carthage have I felt such emotion. I now wear my toga backwards in mourning, for no modern tale shall surpass this spectacle. VERDICT: A triumph. A masterpiece. A wackadoonus maximus. 10 amphorae out of 10.
