I’ve been looking for a functional light control for my outdoor lights for a while. I most recently tried a product from Home Depot that did not work at all. After reading reviews I purchased 2 of these and they both work great.

Using for driveway lights for years. Reliable. Easy to install. Lights always on when I come home. Very pleased. Now buying more for the porch lights. Note- might not work for hooded lights or lights right next to a wall.

I was searching for a simple way to automatically turn on my porch lights in the evenings, off during the daytime. I already use LED lightbulbs for obvious energy conservation, but remembering to turn on/off porch lights is something I was ready to eliminate in my thoughts & routines.Although, I have incorporated several “smart” devices throughout my home & life, I didn’t want to just purchase “smart” bulbs or another Alexa-enabled gadget.Enter these perfect products. I purchased these because the reviews were good and also because it came in a 2-pack. I use for my front & back outdoor light fixtures.As the directions indicate, you’ll want to make sure the actual light bulb is screwed into this product securely, but because the product has a spring loaded interior feature, you don’t have to screw the assembly tightly into lamp socket; you want the light sensor to point outwards and that’s possible with the spring loaded feature; you get a good connection but can adjust the sensor to where to want it.

When these devices work, they are great, and worth many times the low price. But, as some of the less favorable reviews indicate, they often fail to operate correctly. Most often, the ones that fail do so because they don't turn off the lights unless in bright sunlight aimed directly at the sensor. I had one of these devices previously and it would not function at all indoors, where there was no sunlight. But I desperately needed one now for an outdoor fixture which would be in the sunlight during the day, so I bought this package (of two) figuring that at this low price, I had little to lose. Fortunately, this time I won the lottery, and the first one I tried is working perfectly. I installed this about one month ago in the outdoor fixture and it is still operating correctly. So my particular unit would get 5 stars, but I subtracted one star because of the unfavorable track record.

Easy to install and adjust.

I bought two in May 2021. In December one had failed. I can't find a better dusk-to-dawn product that lasts very long. In December I bought a two-pack and installed one. It failed a month later. One of the two I bought in May 2021 is still working. Westek has a website that has a form to communicate with them. I send the message in December and never heard back from Westek.

Over a yr ago I bought one of these for 4 outside lights at our house. They've all continued to work very well. The only 2 downsides, and this would apply to any in-socket, dusk-to-dawn adapter, is: 1) if the light is under a cover (i.e., the outlet is located in a covered porch or under an awning or canopy) it will come on before actual dusk and go off well after sunrise; and 2) if the socket is too deep it can also create the same situation (bc the sensor on this control is below the lip of the socket)
