Affordable, solid build quality, excellent sharpening, fun to color with.
I’ve had fun using these pencils. You can’t tell in advance what unknown-brand pencils are going to be like, but I have a wide range of artist quality to budget quality color pencils (Faber-Castell, Caran d’Ache, Prismacolor, Derwent, Tombow, Ooku, Kalour, the Square pencils, etc), so I thought if they didn’t work out, it wouldn’t be a disaster. As it turns out, these are quite nice quality pencils, in the set of 18.I recommend them.If you want details, read on! Otherwise there’s a summary paragraph at the end. What’s good:1. Sturdy, fine-grained wood that sharpens really smoothly. No splinters or cracks. Excellent finish. I am very impressed with the build quality!2. Centered leads that sharpen evenly to a needle point. So very nice, and rare for the price!3. The only time a lead breaks for me is occasionally when pressing hard on a freshly sharpened needle point. More fun without so many snaps.4. Out of 18 pencils in this set, have some nice choices of yellows, blues, greens and reds/pink. See photos.5. Very easy to fill in the white paper areas smoothly for solid color. Easy to transition or fade color from solid, deepest color to ‘so light it’s hard to see,’ and vice versa. Good for tiny space filling.6. Work well on different kinds of paper, including cheap, smooth, fragile, thin paper.7. In between oily and waxy pencils, but not overly waxy. Layer ok, partly depending on color.8. In between super soft and hard pencils as far as hardness. There aren’t really dark colors in this set, except for black, so sometimes I’d push harder to get the deepest color.9. Can color in tiny areas and not break or blur. Don’t have to constantly sharpen.10. Selection of warm and cool primaries.11. Numbered sequentially, and accurate English spelling in the easy to understand names. Printing is easy to read on the pencils. So much easier to select the right pencil when changing colors!12. You’re not paying for fancy packaging. Good quality for the price is all about the pencils.13. Zero odor, no paint rubbing off on fingers. Safer for kids and adults.14. Affordable price! What could be better:1. Color selection: The 18 set has one brown, but 3 reds and a pink. I would trade one of the similar reds for a yellow ochre color.Could use a darker blue and darker green. The “Deep Lavender” is a bit of a disappointment for a purple. It’s ok, but not dark enough and is a little dull. It’s the only purple, and I would trade it for a darker purple in such a small set.The “Silver” doesn’t seem to show as shiny metallic, but I think it’s probably intended to.The “White” pencil is rather transparent and was pretty useless for me.2. Very expensive, artist grade color pencils have deeper pigmentation and more “custom” pigments. These pencils have nice pigmentation and classic colors at a much cheaper price. They have a notably solid build quality. I found them fun to work with, but don’t expect Faber-Castell or Derwent level pigmentation. I wouldn’t call these artist grade, but they were pleasant to work with, more so than some Kalour pencils I have.3. The pencils function better than many others as far as not breaking, have no odor, sharpen very well, and aren’t too pale. The only downside is there are some tiny crumbles with some of the colors, like blues and black. If you hate crumbles, the saving grace is that these crumbles are very tiny. They don’t tend to smear and do brush/blow away really easily. I dislike crumbles, but clean-up was easy enough I still had fun.4. I would guess they’re not all lightfast, based on the price.5. Simple paperboard box with plastic pencil tray is portable, but not fancy. I’m glad to have better quality in the pencils than have an elaborate package for only 18 pencils, anyway.SUMMARY: As you can see, these pencils have lots of good characteristics. I’m especially impressed by the excellent quality of the wood used, the outer finish, printed names and numbers, and how well they all sharpen. The colors offer warm and cool primaries and greens; I wish there was a darker blue and a yellow ochre. I enjoy coloring and doodling with these, and it’s easy to pull out a simple set of 18 in an impromptu coloring session. For kids, they are rated to be safe, and when sharpened they don’t disappear, which is good for parents’ budgets. I recommend!

The colors and even the box itself are so pretty
Not only it the box and the art on it are cute, the colors inside are very beautiful. It comes out rich on paper and doesn't leave any residue. I can happily use it with little sharpening needed in the process. I truly enjoy this color pencils set and make my time-off days relaxing with a cup of tea and my coloring pad. It's great for drawing enthusiast and leisure drawers.
