These are adorable! I ordered my normal shoe size
These are adorable! I ordered my normal shoe size, 6.5, and they fit well. I have very narrow feet and calves so it's hard for me to find a pair of boots that don't look huge on my legs, but these were perfect. They're very comfortable and sturdy as well. I can wear them all day without my feet hurting.

Bad treads
Two stars for style and nice leather. Ordered a half size up and they fit great. As a boot, though, I'm very disappointed. Treads looked solid until I actually wore them; they slip like crazy. The DC metro has tile floors and it's like waking on ice. My heels are better than these boots are. Now I'm down $120 and still need commuter boots. Not what I expected from a rugged brand, don't buy if you need them for more than just a fashion accessory.Edit: dropped this to one star. I sit at my desk with my legs out in front of me, the sole has started to come off completely! This has never happened with any pair of shoes.

I love these boots and you need a pair too!
So don't get me wrong, I love these boots, they're gorgeous and so well-made. Last year I bought the Savin Hill boots, which essentially have the same design and materials, only the shaft is much taller and doesnt have any laces. As such, I felt very comfortable ordering my normal size 10 (and btw, these are made with high quality leather, so yes they will feel tight at first, but they break in beautifully and easily so do not order a half-size larger or the wider footed unless you wear like 3 pairs of socks every day, in which case just order whatever size you want to since you've got way bigger issues, my friend...).Now, I would have given these beauties 5 stars if it weren't for the unique discrepancy with the pair I was sent (the last pair in my size, of course, grrr...). While the boots both appear to be brand new and in perfect condition, the right boot fits exactly like my broken-in Savin Hills, while the left boot fits like my Savin Hills did when I first bought them. So maybe the right boot was used as a floor model in a store at some point in its journey? Regardless, it's not so much the difference in the tightness of the left boot's leather that bothers me, as it is the difference in the insole - because Timberland makes such cushiony insoles, the left one still has its original thickness and bounciness, while the right does not. The resulting effect is such that it feels like the left boot itself has a significantly taller sole than the right. However, since I do really love these boots, and since (for once, finally!) I won the Amazon price-discrepancy-among-the-different-sizes-of-the-same-damn-shoes lottery, and on top of that was refunded 20% for the fit problem (for a total cost of about $64!)... I figured I might as well just keep them! There's plenty of time to break in the left boot before the cold weather comes back and they'll be as gloriously comfortable as my other Timberland's are :).

Inconsistent quality
Stiff at first but softening and relaxing by the 3rd wearing. These run narrow. I bought the wide width, based on reviews, for my medium width foot and they fit comfortably in non-thick socks. Because I liked these boots, I bought a 2nd pair for my daughter as a gift. Within a week, both heels had separated. I returned the boots and received replacements. The replacement pair lasted one month before the same problem occurred: separating heels. Timberland - whats happened to your quality control???

not traditional wide-width, not the quality i expected from timberland.
i, like many other reviewers, wanted to love these boots. for a short bit i did, but the deficiencies outweighed the positives.if this is a wide width, they need to reevaluate that term. is that why these timberlands are available on amazon? one of the reasons i was willing to take a chance on $150 boots was the brand, but these did not seem representative of timberland quality. still, i was willing to attempt to break these in, even though my wide foot overhung the sole of the shoe. they were reasonably comfortable and perfectly quiet, as only real leather can be (i had been looking for this type of short boot for some time and others were fake leather and very noisy!).unfortunately, i returned them after 3 wearings, as the heel had started coming loose from the sole. while this is something i probably could have fixed with some gorilla glue, for the cost of these boots, i shouldn't have to.i might try timberland again in the future, but only if i can find a story in which to try them on.i typically wear an 8.5 (US) and i ordered a 9, based on other reviewers indicating that they ran a little small. i agree with that assessment.

Awesome boots! Don't forget they run small.
I love these boots! I normally wear a 7 or 7.5 regular but after reading other reviews I got an 8 wide which is more like a regular width. They fit well (a tiny bit long since I sized up but it's not a problem) and I can wear regular socks with them. I wore these boots right out of the box for an active 11 hour shift at work and had no problems. They are well made, a little stiff at first but I think they're going to be perfect in a few wears. The soles have a nice grip to them which is a nice change from my cheap combat boots which have smooth soles.
