pretty good
This is not an "orb" or circle on top, there is nothing "protecting" the parts that are spinning around like I thought there was. That said, it did not last longer than 2-3 months of extremely rough use of my 2 yr old. But it served its purpose and for an older kids would probably last a lot longer. At this price I will buy it again to take to parades etc.

Motor slowly fails... lasted us ONE MONTH before trashed.
At first, we LOVED the product. Got it for Christmas for my autistic son. First issue: Drains the 3 AAA batteries FAST. We noticed that when the batteries were replaced, the motor was less strong each time, producing a less powerful spin and felt more wobbly in hand. Even got a battery tester just to ensure it was the unit and not the batteries! It was the unit. At some point it captured my daughter's long hair and got all twisted up. We managed to pull out the spinning head element to save her hair; however, the lights never worked properly upon placing back on. Then one more battery change later the motor completely dead and no lights whatsoever. Lasted 1 month before broke, just past the period of time where the item is returnable with Amazon. Thrown Away.

Love it
My son absolutely loved this! My only complaint is that it didn’t have a round piece over it so I was afraid he would get it stuck in his hair. It’s my fault for not paying attention to the pics. Other than that, it’s great and a great price!

Spin toy
Cheap toy. It does the trick for a little bit until it broke. Light level is definitely bright and spins really fast. Cute but unfortunately I won’t be buying another one.

At first they did NOT look like what I ordered. But THEN.....
Once I turned them on, they looked completely different! They are quiet and seemingly safe! Very colorful! The kids love them! I attempted several times to take a photo, but the photo doesn’t capture the full colorful spinning circle. It only shows small specks and lines of color. When turned on, they first spin like a fan blade, but as it builds up speed in mere seconds, it spins in circles throwing several colors of light forming a sphere! If the kids stick their fingers in as it’s spinning, it’s not painful. The only thing I can think of that might happen, is if a child with long hair got the spinner caught in their hair! THAT could be a problem. The photo looks like the spinner is enclosed in a plastic bubble, but it’s not. It takes on the appearance of a round bubble once it begins spinning fast. (I have no way of knowing how badly it could get caught up in hair, or if it would just stop spinning?)
