Groupthink: How to manipulate intelligent, well intentioned people to think crookedly.
This well-researched and articulated monograph exposes one of the greatest hoaxes perpetuated on Western populations – that humans are affecting the world’s climate through our carbon emissions, and that right-minded people must act immediately to save our planet. This ‘theory’ has little actual evidence to back it, is not ‘settled science’ and does not allow debate by those who do not subscribe to it.Christopher Booker uses the theory of ‘groupthink’, as expounded by Professor Irving Janis, to show just how vulnerable intelligent people are to having their thinking manipulated. When something is believed fanatically, without sufficient rationality and without healthy scepticism, the thinking employed has been called ‘crooked thinking’ by Robert Thouless. By not allowing healthy debate, calling sceptics ‘climate change deniers’, using emotion in place of rationality, those passionately terrifying us with their apocalyptic scenarios, are as fanatical as the traditional religious groups they often despise. In the forward, Professor Richard Lindzen asks the question “how do otherwise intelligent people come to believe such arrant nonsense despite its implausibility, internal contradictions, contradictory data, evident corruption and ludicrous policy decisions?” The answer is that ‘groupthink’ overpowers the rational faculties that individuals possess, as collective beliefs demand a surrendering of personal doubts. That is how old religions kept the ‘faithful’ under control. The new ‘religious humanists’ want to do good in the world and end up blindly following diktat upon diktat…be it climate change policies, or other ‘virtuous’ fads such as veganism. The desperate need to belong to the group of the self-professed, morally superior , ‘educated elites’, means a fanatical devotion to whatever the group thinks. To disagree risks being shunned by the group and finding oneself without a home.Interestingly, Donald Trump has resisted the call to sign the USA to the Paris Climate Accord. His supporters do not believe the climate hoax, nor the fact that only wealthy western countries are obliged to participate. His ‘deplorable’ voters do not have to subscribe to climate theory, as they do not wish to belong to the so-called elites. After all, they would argue, if the world was truly heading for an apocalypse, why have China and India not been required to cut their emissions. Surely, this is more to do with redistributing the world’s wealth as per Carl Marx, and less to do with a planetary emergency!

For all of us on the fringes of the maddening crowd
Should be compulsory reading for GCSEs. If you, like me have a fascination with what makes people close down their minds and herd together with their peers and then attack anyone who asks questions with labels like "conspiracy theorist" or "denier" for not joining in with "the consensus" then you will love this book. It is based on proper research and the phenomena which here is called "Groupthink" can be applied to many divisive topics of our times and helps explain why rational human beings are prone to quit thinking for themselves but fall into the trap of blindly following the mainstream narrative.

Wow!
This is a short book (just under 100 pages)...but wow! A real eye opener with respect to the contrarian view on man made global warming. It's well laid out and researched. I would definitely recommend reading this book if you are at all curious about the subject.

Fact after fact.
An amazing book. Devoid of emotional outbursts and ungrounded opinions. Fact after fact. I can't read it in one sitting as if it were a novel. If you are interested as to how much truth there is to the Man-made Global Warming Theory, then this is the book to read.

Think for yourself, don't get drawn into the consensus
A perfect example of group thinking that seems to pervade society in many different areas. A very informative book demonstrating how the consensus on any subject has paralysis of thought and oblivious to any other thinking. How they actively denounce any other point of view. Thank god for those of us who can think for ourselves and not feel the need to follow the crowd.

Should be made a compulsory read for schools, uni’s etc. Read and learn!
Just buy and read. Affordable and brief. Those who are extinction alarmists... you may learn something. Those who are not... you’ll be able to learn a few more truths, facts, etc to enable you to ‘tackle’ the aforementioned.

Another book which should be compulsory reading by all MPs.
This is one of many books currently available describing the fashionable climate change scam which has been described as the greatest deceit ever imposed on mankind. The effect of CO2 on climate change is known to be minimal and if we want a green environment we need ,if anything, more CO2 in the atmosphere, not less, if we are to produce the vegetation necessary to support the growing millions of people on the planet.. Every schoolchild used to be told that CO2 was essential for plant growth, a fact that climate change zealots conveniently ignore. This book summarises the real facts supporting the view that we are going in the wrong direction!

What the media never tell us
An excellent and very complete exploration of how climate hysteria and socio-political ideologies have determined the current AGW "religion". Booker has a ruthless eye for facts which we are never told.
