I use this peeler for all sorts of fruits and vegetables. It is perfect for soft/thin skin and is equally as good for peeling other foods. I have purchased a couple for friends too.

Like most people, I have so many peelers. Some do get lost and others work well at first. This one just feels like quality. It is easy to hold, and very sharp so be careful. I have used it now to peel about 10 pounds of potatoes 5 pounds of sweet potatoes and a few eggplants. Still as sharp as when I got it. It does come with a plastic blade cover. Be sure to remove it. I just rinse it clean under water. I do not put it in the dishwasher. You can let it air dry or wipe it dry with a cloth and replace that blade cover. I think this peeler will last a long time. Much better than other peelers including the ceramic ones.

There are some glaring design flaws in this tool that really impede its function. There are two ways to deploy this peeler, the push-away method and the pull-towards method, using the thumb as leverage. In both modes, the handle itself, while girthy and robust is just too chunky for a dextrous grip. In the pull-towards method, the handle gets in the road, preventing use other than feeling like you're wearing a mitten to peel your choice of tuber. In the push-away method, the flat section of the blade that shrouds the cutting edges is 1)too wide and 2)too flat. Both these problems lead the blade to a very limited approach angle where it will actually generate a reasonable peel. If you don't get the yaw angle right, you generate a peel action that leaves stripes of skin on the tuber. If you mess up the approach angle, the angle that the blade cuts into the item along the path you're pushing or pulling, all the blade does is scrape long the surface, it's doesn't actually dig through the skin and peel. Zyliss has always been an innovator, this kitchen tool was selected for that history of innovation but clearly this is a flop

Great for tomatoes and soft fruit

I had to replace my old zyliss peeler and this one did the trick. I love the new style of the handle and the zig zag pattern of the cutter really performs better than the smooth type. Highly recommend it.

Very sharp, work great

Good peeler, crappy guard. Nice heavy guard, but tapered so it falls off the instant the peeler is touched. With as much effort as went into the peeler, one would think that the guard could be made to stay on when the peeler is not in use. Five stars for the peeler, zero stars for the guard.

As I explained, the blades are now closer together making the peeler a poor choice if you are a busy chef and haven't the time to stand forever trying to peel potatoes, carrots etc. I will NEVER buy again. My old peeler, the same make is a joy. I hope the makers will take note and change manufacturing back to their older model. 🤞
