BOSS Audio Systems CXX10 Chaos Exxtreme Series 10 Inch Car Subwoofer - 800 Watts Max, Single 4 Ohm Voice Coil, Hook Up to Amp

They are a good subwoofer for the price. They were built well, and they have a good sound to them. However they did not work out so well in the application I picked them for. I bought them for a set of home stereo speaker cabinets I was building and they did not work out so well. I have nothing negative to say about them. My receiver is low wattage unit and they just needed more than it was capable of.

I waited to review in order to "properly" test this speaker - no gauges or genius, just sound and quality. The thing is heavy, you need the heavy magnet to move air, which is what a sub does; more so than a mid-range. I built a close-to proper-specs insulated cabinet from scrap plywood and polar. No cabinet grade and lined with an old beach towel as I had no fiberglass. You can see this is a low buck deal!. I've successfully made enclosures for smaller speakers from small plastic containers (sturdy ones) with lids, and corrugated cardboard- two pieces or three glued together to get to 3/8" thick then cardboard angle and cross brace etc. Back to the Boss. Excellent sound and construction. I paired with an inexpensive low-pass filter from Amazon to keep high frequencies from it. On 'low volume' the 3/4" plywood cabinet shook and you can feel the bass strongly with deep growling lows (my death metal tracks as well as classical). The sealed enclosure worked for me (covered in cheap landscape fabric, lined with old towel) and completed my 10 cabinet setup through a very able non class D type amp! I recommend this speaker but you don't need my advice- BOSS is a venerable brand of many years.

(UPDATE: I've been happily using this sub for 3 years now. Still going strong! The rest of the review still applies) The sub I got [12 inch 1000w] Is an amazing value for what it is. That's one of the issues though, it's not what it claims to be. This sub is rated at 1000 watts MAX but that's not really that stat you want to focus on. The stat you want to focus on is the RMS power, which is the power that is constantly provided to the subwoofer at all times. This sub is rated at 500 watts RMS on their website, but in reality it can probably only take 150 MAX before you risk breaking the thing. This is a problem because people buy it thinking it's gonna be an actual 500w RMS BEAST of a sub when in reality it's not even close, and they supply it with 500 watts RMS and it ends up blowing up. And for that, I can only give it a 4 star review. But... It's still and incredible value, even though it's not what it claims to be. This sub (when powered at 110 watts RMS) is powerful enough to vibrate my whole car and shake the rear view mirror around like crazy. It won't rattle the mirror OFF of the car or anything like that, but come on, what more do you need? It's the PERFECT sound level. Just quiet enough so the people around your car don't get annoyed by the loudness, while still being loud enough to THUMP the inside of your car. It's great, and it sounds great too! No distortion or anything like that. Just crisp clear sound. That's not even the best part though! The best part, is that you can get a 3 year warrenty, for just 3$! If you're worried about it breaking because of how cheap it is, there's no need to worry! You can pick up this and a boss 1100w amp and get three year warranties on BOTH of them for like $80ish. This thing made me a true believer in cheap audio. I got this sub, a Boss Riot r1100M amp, an amp install kit from Install-Gear and I even built my own box with MDF wood from Lowe's and it all cost me less than $140... If you paid for bigger name brand stuff, $140 would have only gotten you the amp.... If you just want to add a nice bump to your system and don't want to spend much money. THIS IS IT. I am truly impressed. (Listen to the attached video with headphones to really hear the bass. Listening on just your phone speakers or even cheap earbuds won't do it justice)

I replaced a Polk Audio 8" driver in a Home Theater enclosure that was clipping at 50% Power from the 50 Watt RMS Amp (100 Peak). I dropped this in and turned the volume to 100% no more clipping, 4x the BASS and I have heard there is a BREAK IN PERIOD for these before they really sound good. I am hammering it now with Trance and Club music. I am IMPRESSED for how little I paid for this. It makes the Polk 8" that was in the enclosure look like Clown Shoes. Seriously and unexpected gem for your money. I was going to drop in an Infinty Kappa but I'm so impressed by this cheap little sub that I don't need it (I have one in another sub in another room and while it hits harder it's close enough and I'm happy). 2 of these in a box in your trunk would be impressive, especially for the price.

Bumps very good with low wattage

Finally finished building the box and hooked it up. Sounded great for 5 minutes then blew. Tested at back of speaker to verify it was getting an input and it was, but the speaker wouldn't make a sound. Now to try and get them to warranty the speaker even though id rather have a refund. Sadly I'm out of the 30 days by a bit over a week. I needed 2 total but bought 1 for test fitting. Doubt I'll buy this brand again as the head unit I recieved from them isn't quite up to snuff either. Update: warranty process was super easy. Called the manufacturer and they sent me an email. No arguments or Hassel, just send them a screenshot of your Amazon purchase, Name and address and they will send a new one out. Now just to wait and see.

Love it still have yet to fully power it but works well way under powered but I have it spliced into my tv speakers works great adds awesome depth

they are decent for the price they sound good at Low power but they definitely can not handle the 600w max or even 300rms it is in a bad pass box with 2 inch compression chamber I have a 1000w bridged amp I used it with one channel so 500w not even turned half way up the bass is not there but with my little 100w amp it sounds good when turned all the way up it probably gives it 150-175 watts at that wattage the quality goes down.

La bocina es de un tamaño muy reducido y fácil de acomodar en la cajuela del coche y con un buen amplificador, da un sonido excelente y con mucha potencia que se siente desde lejos, estoy muy contento con el subwoofer, se ve la calidad y materiales de 1a. lo recomiendo mucho.

Good product

Installer ce matin à la place d'un vieux subwoofer kenwood. Le son ressens très très bas. On sent qu'on est pas sur un sub de monitoring. Personnellement, j'écoute des son typé électro. Du dub de la drum and bass, et dans ce registre aucun problème. Pour des films ou des musiques plus accoustique, il faudra baisser un peu le volume du sub. Petit mots sur le look, c'est à peu près ok, mais le sigle Boss. N'est pas droit au niveau du cone

La verdad no esperaba nada de este producto, por su precio creí que sería malo pero es muy bueno si no estás buscando hechar competencias. Lo compre para ayudar a mis monitores polk audio en casa,, mande a hacer un cajón como lo recomienda el fabricante y los bajos son muy claros. Los materiales son de buena calidad. Si lo recomiendo
