Polar Brown Eel Bulletproof Ink - Tough and waterproof, with a nostalgic color
This is not my first Noodler's Ink, but I can already tell it will soon become one of my favorites. For those unfamiliar with Noodler's and find the names slightly confusing (Eels? Bulletproof polar bears? What?!) here's a breakdown on what their names mean:Eel inks are lubricating inks. Polar inks are inks that will still perform in very cold conditions (and not cause havok in your pen due to freezing). Bulletproof (sometimes 'eternal') means that the ink will resist the attempts of a forger to change or remove writing without detection. The Noodler's bulletproof inks will give up when the paper is ready to fall apart, and at that point it's kind of obvious an average forger has been trying their hand at it.I once lost several pages of notes to water damage that were written in J. Herbin's Bleu Nuit and a generic blue-black cartridge refill. Noodler's does have inks that are even more resistant to more sophisticated forgers (Warden series), but for my purposes, being water and alcohol resistant are all I need.I already own an 'eternal' black (Noodler's Heart of Darkness), but I have stationary that has a brown trim, and I much prefer a matching brown ink. The ink dries slightly lighter than it lays down. It's not so dark that you'd mistake it for a modern true black ink, but it's dark enough that it might pass for a much older 'black' ink that has faded with light and time.Fair warning - Noodler's inks are full almost to the very top. Have a care when you open the bottle.

Not Bad (Update - Better)
This works well in an older Cross converter with a medium nib, but I get a ton of nib creep and inconsistency when trying to run it in my Lamy Safari.Great color, just wish it would run better in my favorite fountain.(Update 1/16/14)I have been giving the Polar Brown a second try in my Lamy pens and have to say I am coming around. It still has nib creep on my Lamy Fine and Extra-Fine, but it isn't a huge issue. The inconsistency is completely gone with both pens. I suspect I had some contamination on the nib that was messing up the flow.To comment on the color, it is a nice rich brown with traces of grey/black that leave it looking more like an oiled leather than a sepia tone (to my eye). Very nice ink and would probably look even better fed through a flex nib.

Another great ink by noodlerโs
This ink is great for fountain pens. Very smooth to write or draw with. Perhaps a bit pale but thatโs very minor compared to the wonderful feel of writing/ drawing with it.

Perfect brown ink for me
This is the ink I settled on after looking at several other brown hues. I like a rich dark brown that is easy to read, including on buff or off-white paper. The color of this ink is a rich, slightly reddish brown. It looks nicely antique.Search in Youtube for this ink's name and you can find some videos that show it's color pretty accurately.Noodler's ink is simply the best, and Noodler's bulletproof ink is waterproof and permanent and can't be beat, at least in my opinion.I use this ink for my fountain pens and for my Speedball dip pen. It works great with either.I have been using Noodler's inks for several years in several different colors. It's my preferred brand.

Perfect For My Journal
This is the exact ink that I use for writing in my book of mysteries.I once read that if you wanted to write a journal and make it look ancient that you must use brown ink. Noodler's Ink Polar Brown is the one I finally settled on and it has never failed me.The dark brown helps convey the ancient quality and arcane knowledge which is revealed to me by unseen forces. When you order this ink you may not be able to have the depth of mysterious visions and secret knowledge that I have but you will be using the exact ink that puts life into the pages of my journal.Dantalion Jonesauthor of lots of books on mind control

Great but...
This is a great ink due to the qualities it posesses but my beef is that this one feathers pretty bad on cheap notebook paper, with a high quality paper its awesome, but make sure you use a nice medium weight paper. nice color for a vintage look. I love it on ivory stationary paper. kind of a rich milk chocolate color, bulletproof eternal and freeze proof forge proof, water resistant once dry and it even lubricates pen parts. if you can get past the feathering then this would truly be a perfect ink.

It's waterproof. Really.
A rare ink that can used with watercolor.

Poor Packaging
I'm a big fan of Noodler's Inks and don't often use anything else. Unfortunately, while the Polar Brown may be a very fine ink, it seems I'm not destined to find out on my own. When I received it the glass bottle was loose in a rather large box which I though a bit odd as it slid at will from one end of the box to the other. But it looked OK and I put the bottle on my ink shelf along with another that arrived from Amazon the same day (the Polar Brown was shipped from National Art Supply). When I tried to open the bottle several days later I had ink all over my hands as the top had cracked. As Noodler fans are aware they fill that thing right to the top.So now I have some Polar Brown ink, no spare bottle to put it in, I'm Polar Brown up to my elbows and on the floor so I put it in a Ziploc bag, put that in another Ziploc bag and dumped it in the garage trash can. Hopefully that's the end of my Polar Brown experience which wasn't worth $13+. I did get to take a photo though....

Perfect
Great color, happy with the result, just what I wanted to use with watercolor.

inchiostro
utilizzo questo inchiostro per i miei disegni grafici, riesco a diluirlo con l'acqua per poterlo sfumare con il pennello. ha una buona resa.e lo preferisco al nero per me troppo forte

Good waterproof ink ok for fountain pens
Good ink uf you need waterproof in your fountain pen. A bit on the light side in terms of tint. Works well in my kaweco sport pen.
