It is wide and solid, with a stable stance and good iron rest. One note: if you iron sheer or semi-sheer fabric a lot, you may want to get a solid color instead of a print. I thought I was getting water spots (I wasn't), when I was just seeing the water bubbles printed on the cover. But that's a me problem, not the fault of the ironing board.
