The Wurkkos HD12 Headlamp is a really impressive compact headlamp that also works well as a standalone light. So if you travel with this, no need to take a second light. It has a relatively simple interface that allows users to select three levels of regular output along with turbo and moonlight. The light also allows quick access to red led (steady at variable levels and blinking). It takes a little to get used to the interface but once you've used it a few times its very straightforward and intuitive (and fortunately doesn't have hard to used complicated programming modes). The light can be used standalone as a mini right angle light, or the light can be clipped into the head strap, for use as a headlamp. Because the unit is very small and light, it fits comfortably on the head. The box says it is 850 lumens. While I have no way to test that, in comparison to other lights I have, it does put out a lot of light. If it matters to you, the light has a cool tint... not far on the cool side, but definitely more cool than warm. No built in charging, but the light uses 14500 batteries, and in a pinch can run with a good nicad or alkaline (though brightness and longevity will suffer). Mine came with a 14500. Overall its a very impressive and practical flashlight/headlight.

Even on higher brightness settings, the battery holds up well. ✔ Durable & Lightweight – Built tough with an aluminum body, yet light enough to wear comfortably as a headlamp. ✔ Magnetic Tail & Clip – The built-in magnet is handy for hands-free use, and the pocket clip makes it easy to carry. Any Downsides? Honestly, not much! If you’re using an AA battery, the brightness is lower than with a 14500, but that’s expected. Final Verdict: If you need a compact but powerful headlamp with great battery flexibility and long runtime, the Wurkkos HD12 Mini is an excellent choice. It’s bright, well-built, and packed with useful features. Definitely a solid 5-star product!

Nicely lightweight, puts out a decent amount of light. The user interface is reasonably intuitive: a single click will turn it on with white light at the saved intensity, so my wife doesn't get frustrated. It works with a standard AA battery, although not as brightly. The manual says the power indicator will flash red while charging, but mine just glows a steady red. But the power bank feature is useless: I've tried using it to charge three different phones, a Kindle, and another Wurkkos headlamp, and it always failed immediately.

What really stands out is the tap sequence for switching modes — it’s simple, intuitive, and works perfectly even with gloves on. I can easily cycle through the brightness levels and modes without any frustration. The build quality feels solid, and the headband is comfortable for long wear. Battery life has been great so far, and charging is quick and convenient. Overall, this headlamp is exactly what I was looking for — bright, reliable, and easy to operate. Highly recommended for anyone who needs dependable light on the go!

Pros: good mount, simple UI, good performance with AA batteries, red LEDs can get nice and bright. Cons: White LEDs have an awful green tint on my sample, and apparently far lower CRI than initially advertised. I notice the product listing no longer contains any references to 90+ CRI. I don't know what the emitters are, but they look like pretty standard 70 CRI stuff with washed-out colors and poor red rendering. Why would you not use a 519A on this light? Plenty of other Wurkkos lights have them. The clip only attaches one way (head up), which isn't ideal because to push the light down into your pocket, you're pushing on the power button. Which also isn't great -- sloppy actuation and lots of side to side play. The clip can't be on the light while the light is in the headband mount, unless you rotate it around 180 degrees.
