Moondropped it, its still working hy
I've had this phone for two months, I bought it in February and May has just started. I can confidently say that buying this phone instead of the new iPhone was the smart move. I was waiting and waiting for something to happen that would make me regret it, but I haven't. I've dropped it a ton and the screen is just fine despite my having no case or protector so. Yeah. If you have little hands like me, good luck because this thing is bigger than I thought. Still worth tho. I'm using it with audio technica headphones, and so far the sound quality and consistency is great compared to my iPhone 13 and Airpods pro combo.

This is a review for this purely as a DAP and not a phone. She is great. She is better than great... She is PERFECT!!! To those who care about audio quality and cute girls this is the best I have ever heard and loved. MOONDROP CREATORS ONE OF THESE DAYS I AM GOING TO FIND YOU AND KISS YOU!

We Need More Smartphones Like This
If you’re like me, seeing smartphones get more expensive every year while getting rid of features like the headphone jack has been frustrating to say the least. While I’d be more than willing to pay more for a flagship phone to still have this feature, no company seems to think this matters anymore with Bluetooth earbuds being dominant. For those looking for a smartphone that still has a headphone jack, you really only had the Sony Xperia line (no longer in the US) or an assortment of questionable lower priced and spec’d devices. The phone in question here, the Moondrop MIAD01, is unique as it comes from a company known for audio products and takes having just a headphone jack a step further. It reminds me back 10-15 years ago when Android phone manufacturers were willing to try different things in order to be more unique in their offerings. As a smartphone, the MIAD01 offers a mix of features that are good and bad. The screen is a large, and has a high refresh rate OLED with curved edges (reminds me of a Galaxy S6 Edge). It looks great and functions as expected. Performance is middle of the road, as this is essentially a lower-mid range spec phone. It is still ultimately useable, but not a smooth or seamless as flagships. Build quality is passable, with it mostly being made of plastic. It should be fine, particularly if it is in a case (hard to find decent ones of these btw). The camera, as even Moondrop put it, exists. It is not as bad as you might think, but it is clearly an area that cost cutting has taken place. Storage is expandable via micro sd. Now, on to the main attraction: the headphone jacks. Unlike most other phones before it, the Moondrop doesn’t just have a 3.5mm jack, but also a balanced 4.4mm output. The performance reminds me most of the types of DAC amps you can typically buy at around the $150-200 price point (the old Fiio BTR7 comes to mind). Not having to remember a dongle is great, though, I don’t believe the average person will notice a huge difference in performance without a back to back comparison on the unbalanced output. Bluetooth audio works as expected, with no stuttering and standard codec support (like LDAC). Moondrop software is minimal, but there is an option to add parametric equalization and some additional tube amplification/special audio modes. Third party solutions are more flexible. Another neat addition is the radio tuner. This phone isn’t good enough to convince me to replace my IPhone Pro Max with it, but, for its significantly lower price, it’s still quite good. If you look at this as an internet enabled digital audio player, it starts to look more compelling.

Hoping for better
The phone would never consistently connect to wifi! I've had lots of phones and never had one performed so poorly with wifi. I couldn't use it at all

Front camera, "it's not good, but it works" :)
Just heard about this music phone, that's an honest and genius quote in advertising where it needed to skimp in some areas. Do plebs still take selfies anyway?

This mobile internet audio device is super. The display is clear and colours are vivid. The sound is very satisfying paired with wired earphones. Moondrop sounds great with wireless headphones. Works perfectly with the Qobuz app for streaming and downloading music.

I really enjoy this phone. It's a solid mobile that's capable of doing most daily tasks alongside being a legitimate audio device as well. I mainly use IEMs and haven't experiemented with EQ's of FLACs just yet but it does run Tidal and Apple music with Hi-resolution on the tracks that are recorded with that level of fidelity. I haven't tried the 4.4 balance input yet so I can't comment much on it. I will say, however, sometimes the screen can be a little sensitive when in the pocket and it can start tapping away at the emergency contact dial. I'm sure there's probably a way of stopping this in settings tho. Occasionally it has rebooted on me a couple of times but is pretty stable. Considering I moved from an iPhone 13 pro looking for a downgrade, this phone is unique, it plays my favourite music and saves me money as I only have to pay for the sim. I enjoy it, and have been doing so for about 4 months (hoping for many more)
