Pasteurized Mushroom Casing for Mushroom Substrate

Look everyone! A lot of you complain that you get bacteria or it doesn't grow anything. Remember to keep the temp between 68 to 74 degrees, but 72 is perfect. Don't go any higher than 74 or else bacteria form and the mycelium wont be able to colonize fast enough. Keep the substrate in dark till mycelium colonize at least 50 percent and then light isn't an issue. Light will be needed to stimulate the pins through out the weeks while there covered as they come out. Within the first 2 weeks at the end of those days shake the bag to disperse the remaining mycelium to finish colonizing. This process usually takes me 3 months to see pins, but sometimes 2. I usually tend to cover the berries with a sterilized dirt cover that the seller sells as well to begin next phase once mycelium have colonized 100 percent by the end of the month. All i do is pour alcohol on my hands and that's it. I do make sure that the syringe is clean and or bag area. Though you don't have to be OCD about cleanliness. Its all about temperature. The cooler the temp. The less able bacteria can grow or even nasty fungi. Don't blame the seller. Its you who controls the environment. You can message me if you have any questions. This seller has given me good outcomes when using there bags. I am a novice and yet i have never gotten bacteria or bad fungi growth on all my experiments. I've taken agriculture studies and botany in college.

This is a casing layer this is not a bulk substrate so all of you who keep writing reviews comaining that it wont fill a tub let me clue you in this product is supposed to be put on top of a manure based substrate this is not supposed to fill your container only the top 1/4 inch to keep extra moisture in your substrate so the mushrooms can utilize as much water as possible. Look for north spore boomer bag that is the manure based substrate you need and then put this casing layer on top of the manure then wait! Happy growing

Bag came as described but my substrate was contaminated so I can't speak to how well if produces mushrooms.

Great casing from out grow. worked perfectly for what I needed. If you wanna grow big healthy mushrooms get this. Awesome for using along with their pasteurized horse manure. which I also recommend

Used on 6 trays 4 got contaminated in two days tried saving and scraping contaminated out but came back total loss

The bag is 8 “ but it is not nearly 8” of substrate. It came in a small box and it smelled like cheap potting soil. Not any smell of manure. I had to add water to it and coco coir hopefully they will grow.

Too soon to tell but as far as quality at opening, the casing had perfect moisture content and seemed sterile enough as no contaminants have appeared.

Good product- particularly if you don’t have the raw materials to make your own, or have concerns about contamination when making your own. Good to have around in a pinch.
