Stitchcraft: An Embroidery Book of Simple Stitches and Peculiar Patterns

Bought for my daughter's Christmas present and she is new to embroidery so she is delighted with it. Some very unusual pictures that will give her some ideas.

This is a great book for ideas and for enjoying a slightly alternative side of needlework. The author makes suggestions of what stitch to use where but there's no defining guide. It's up to the stitcher to try their hand at building up their design. I think for that reason this book won't suit everyone. I want to stitch some of the patterns onto black linen but not sure how I will copy design onto the dark fabric, but that's my issue not the book's problem.

Very difficult to leave a good review for Amazon ! I am sat in bed recovering from very recent Lung Cancer Surgery. Decided to order some books and found exactly what I wanted from Amazon. All books arrived within two days and are beautiful, ab beautiful. I am planning to try some embroidery that I have not tried for years. I cannot praise this service from all providers and Amazon.Ebay has an easy product review, but I could not find the way to go with you.But thank you for your service.

Fabulously different embroidery book. Beautifully presented book and very inspirational. Paterns are full size which to me is very important. There are no detailed step by step instructions, rather encouragement to make the projects your own, not for a complete beginner.

If you are an embroiderers who likes the macabre then this is teh book for you. Beautifully presented with tons of inspiration and patterns to work from. I highly recommend it

Amazing book! I'm very new to embroidery, and this book is just fantastic for inspiration. I've seen lots of reviews saying it's not a beginners book, but I have to disagree, I think if you're a beginner, maybe watch a few YouTube tutorials on any stitches you're not familiar or confident with and then get stuck in! To be completely honest the stitches used are relatively easy and uncomplicated. Just have a bit of confidence in yourself and go for it! Amazing book if you're a fan of witchy bits and bobs and stuff that's a bit weird and will scare your nana!

This book is incredibly well done, the images are so appealing and with the descriptions it is easy to recreate the embroidery pieces. I would highly recommend this book!

The embroideries are beautiful. The photos and close ups are great but there's a lot of information missing in the patterns. A lot of them are missing the numbers to the corresponding stitches on the diagrams. I didn't buy it for the patterns but even I'm annoyed by such sloppy mistakes.

I love this book, it is a feast for the eye of someone into this ‘off the wall’, acquired-taste style of free-hand stitching and experienced enough to not need stitch-by-stitch instructions. The book is printed in good quality paper and the color photos are clear, showing all the different stitches employed. The type of fabric used and possible substitutes, as well as type of embroidery threads are discussed. The end pages contain full size, pull-out charts of almost every design shown. There are just a few, quite interesting designs in the covers that do not have charts or explanations, but the photos clearly show the stitches used and it would be possible to duplicate them.

This is an amazing book. I'm full of inspiration now

I bought, and later returned this book. The pictures are excellent, I really appreciate the details, and the patterns were easy enough for me to follow mentally, it's only that after receiving the book I realized I wasn't going to do any of these projects, or even anything inspired by them. Still, if you like the style and plan to stitch them or something like them, you should absolutely make this purchase.
