What should I do if the hearing aid whistles loudly while putting the aid in my ear?

If hearing aids are powered on, they will often whistle when placed in the ear. If uncomfortable feedback/chirping is experienced while putting hearing aid in, turn off prior to insertion. Once in the ear, turn the hearing aid on.
