Great Microwave
A really good microwave! I was tired of the ones where the paint chips off inside or buttons don’t continue to work after hardly any use. I wanted one that will last a while. It works great. I do not use the Wi-Fi attributes that it has because I don’t find them necessary. But over all is great!

Needs backlit buttons, Alexa works well, barcode scanning useless
I haven’t had any issues with Alexa integration and voice commands a year or so after purchasing. I scanned a lot of barcodes when I first got it and I think only found one that actually worked, so I haven’t since. It’s easiest to just throw something in there and ask Alexa to run the microwave for however long. Like folks said, 900 watts isn’t quite worth the price but it suits our needs. Intermittently beeps once a few times a day, unrelated to use or time of day, no idea what it’s trying to tell us. Biggest gripe is that there is no illumination on the buttons and this is in our pantry, so without turning the lights on in the room (ambient light from kitchen spills in,) it is impossible to use without going back and hitting the lights, busting out your phone for illumination or calling to Alexa.

Works great, looks great
Very happy with this new microwave. Great size for fitting on our small kitchen shelf. Love the white interior and bright bulb, so food can actually be seen, unlike dingy grey interiors on competitive units. The style fits well with our Viking stove. Love that the kitchen timer can be set, and then the microwave can be used, without interrupting the timer. Love the flat interior ceiling so our magnetic splatter guard can stick to it when not in use. Note that this unit does not come with a flat plug, so I bought a 3' flat plug extension cord from a big box improvement store. Would prefer it came with this directly.GE: if you're reading this, I have two minor criticisms. One, the turntable makes a clacking sound, like a train in slow motion, when spinning around with a cup on it. Two, the door doesn't line up visually with the front panel, resulting in the chrome stainless perimeter having a sloppy zigzag appearance. Manufacturing tolerances should be improved in both areas.

It's really nothing more than a toy right now!
Nice idea that's been poorly implemented.I'm using the GE Appliances app on an iPhone. Once I connect the microwave to my WiFi, I can find the microwave with the GE app, but it keeps going online, then offline, then online, etc. Also, the app crashes on a fairly regular basis. When it's online, the screen has a "bar code" icon which you can use to tell it to scan a UPC code on a frozen dinner. The scanning process is finicky and it takes a while to successfully scan a code. Only 2 of the 6 products I tried to scan are even supported. Once a supported product is scanned, the iPhone screen displays the cooking instructions with a "Send" button. When I hit the send button, all it does is send the initial time and power setting to the microwave - I still have to press start on the microwave. When it came time to "remove product, stir, and replace product back in microwave", the app seemed to lose track of where it was and I had to finish the job manually. If the microwave oven loses power, the display shows PF. It seems you have to press the Cancel button to clear that state before the app will work again. Plus, you need to re-enter the microwave's Model Number into the app each time the power fails?!? Actually, it's more often than that. I just tried the +30 second button and it asked for the Mode Number again.I don't think they did a lot of testing back at the lab?P.S. The clock sync feature doesn't work.==========================================UPDATE:I called the provided for technical support - they only handle getting the initial WiFi working. That person forwarded me to the parts department which wasn't helpful. I called back the original number and was told to contact GE Answers with actual non-connectivity issues. The service rep I spoke with at GE Answers didn't have any answers regarding all the issues I mentioned - his response was "they just came out with these" (as if to say "the bugs aren't worked out yet"). His only answer was that I should call Consumer Relations to get a replacement. I don't think I'm gonna waste more time on this right now.

Not so easy to setup, but works great once you do.
Setup is a two-step process.First, you get the oven on your Wi-Fi network (using the GE app). The "scan and cook" feature is part of the GE app (not Alexa). I tried scanning the bar code from a Stouffer's box and It worked pretty well. It worked, but we never use it.The real deal is getting Alexa to control the oven with voice, which is a little tougher to set up.You need Alexa to learn the appropriate "skill", then she needs to find the oven on your Wi-Fi network. Once she sees it, you're good to go.Obviously, you need an Echo in the kitchen, near the oven, to make it work. This setup is especially good for older people, or those with vision problems, as you don't need to see the display, or the buttons, on the microwave to use it. Just say "Alexa, microwave on high for three minutes" and away she goes. Another nice feature is that she repeats the cooking time when the oven starts, just in case she misunderstood you and has programmed the wrong cooking time. The recently released Amazon oven is probably easier to setup than this one, but it has a lot less power, so I think one is still the best. It's more than double the price though, so if you're on a budget, the Amazon model may be the way to go.
