Great nutrition for pancake tortoises
I have two pancake tortoises (Merry and Pippin). For the first couple years I had them, I fed them mixtures of deep leafy greens--e.g. kale, collard greens, dandelion greens, etc. However, I noticed that their poop wasn't always solid or frequent. The container for this food categorizes pancake tortoises as grassland tortoises, so I chose this food from the line of Zoo Med tortoise food products. At first, I just mixed this food in with their greens because I was unsure if I could get them to move away from eating leafy things. I also sprinkled a calcium supplement on the food. Almost immediately, I could tell that their pooping quality had improved. However, after a few years of that, I noticed some pyramiding on one of my tortoises (Pippin). Once I noticed that, I decided to fully convert them to this food because it is especially balanced for their nutritional needs. The container recommends gradually mixing increasing amounts of this food with greens to switch them over. Since I had been mixing it with their greens for a while, I just went ahead and switched. To my surprise, they gobble this up as eagerly as the greens. I also sprinkle a calcium supplement (Zoo Med) and multivitamin (Rep-Cal Herptivite) on it. I switched them over at the beginning of the year, and Pippin's shell looks slightly improved. She is still pretty small, so I'm hoping she will grow out of the pyramiding as she continues to eat this food blend. Overall, it's pretty easy to prepare. I typically do a 1:1 ratio of water to pellets and let it sit for 5-10 minutes as I'm getting ready in the morning. Originally, I was putting the food in a plastic reptile food dish. Because this blend has a bit higher water content, it would sometimes develop some fuzzy mold if it was left in the enclosure for more than a day. I swapped out my dish for a basic terra cotta flower pot dish and that works much better. It's still best to change out the food every day (because it dries out eventually), but now it doesn't mold since the terra cotta dish absorbs some of the water.

I need a larger container
My tortoises love the zoomed gourmet tortoise diet. One loves the sweet potatoes and the other loves the carrots the best. I wish it came in a larger container because they go through it like they may never eat again.

perfect nutritional food for my desert tortoise
this is the perfect food for my Mojave desert tortoise named Roy, it gives him the proper nutrition that he needs in a convenient pellet that you just soak. One container usually lasts for the 6 months that he is out and about

GREAT product, affordable, nutritious and convenient
I tried Mazuri first but my Desert Tortoise didn’t care for it. The pellets took a long time to soak in water and I could only get my tortoise to eat it if it stuck to his other food, fresh greens. Then, after doing some research, I decided to give this food a try. He eat it willingly right away and it’s a lot easier to prepare. 5-10 mins in a cup of water to soften it and it’s ready to go. It’s got quality ingredients, it’s convenient in lieu of buying fresh greens and very affordable. For anyone having trouble feeding it to their tortoise, soften it well and mix it in gradually. I was lucky to get mine to switch cold turkey but that’s part luck and probably because I didn’t offer food for a few days to entice his appetite. I’d highly recommend giving this product a try. It’s sold in smaller quantities for around $10 at Petco and PetSmart to test it out first.

Unsure if this is tortoise worthy
I have not seen my two tortoises eat this yet. I have changed it daily because after it sits all day, it gets a white film on the top. It looks like mold so I don't leave it in anymore. I don't know what the white film is and my tortoises prefer their lettuce and spinach. I would not purchase again.

Great food! Makes happy, healthy tortoises!
I've got 2 baby sulcata tortoises and I wanted to give them some grass fiber in their diet as a bulk ingredient. The pellets are really big and super hard, but all you have to do is put them in a shallow dish and soak them in a layer of water for 20 minutes or so. When you come back, they're expanded, fluffy and damp. Just crumble the now-puffed pellets into a dish to dry again and you can use the pellet powder to add to their food. I typically dice up cactus (nopales) with a little pumpkin, squash, fruit, or edible flowers and add in plenty of the grass pellet crumbles. The tortoises LOVE it! It smells sweet and wonderfully grassy like alfalfa, hay, and Bermuda grass (which is exactly what these pellets are made of). The baby tortoises eat plenty of this stuff and they're happy, healthy, active, and make bulky, healthy little turds. No constipation or mushy poops for these guys. (Might be TMI, but for a reptile owner, the pops of your critters is an important indicator of health.) I'm a lifetime customer for sure! My sulcatas love it and so do I!
