Quality Machine
Great, quality machine. This is the kind that will last you a lifetime if properly cared for. If you use your rotary tool often, this is worth the money. It has the power you need, and won't break down on you. The chuck is fantastic, lets me use all sizes of bits, and holds them securely. It does get a bit warm as you use it, but that's just how rotary carving works. Give it a few seconds to cool down if it's too hot on your hands.I've seen complaints about the foot pedal. It is indeed cheaply constructed, but I've used it quite a bit in the past six months and had no issues with it. I do recommend unplugging the carver when you're not using it, because if you're like me, you might tend to accidentally step on the pedal.

powerful grinder
This is a nicely powerful grinder. I bought it to engrave names and dates on a tombstone. For that it worked very well, though you will need to buy additional grinding bit.

Very powerful tool
I am a DIYer and use this tool at least once a week and once in a while when I get the urge to carve I may use it about 2 hours at a time.Note: I am not going to compare this to a similar tool that costs more than three times as much. When I read all the flex shaft issues I was ready for it with Silicone grease with PTFE in it.I removed the cable and filled it with the grease which made it very quite as well as smooth.I needed to use it for cutting off about 40 screws from a project that I was working on. There was absolutely no issue with putting pressure on the side load. That is one of first things I noticed.I was working on carving some handles for walking sticks and I love how much better this pencil style handle works than the standard rotary tools.I have hundreds of bits, some standard some not. With the 3 jaw that closes down to nothing I am able to use every one that I have. I wasn't crazy about the chuck key at first but after using it for a few months now I see why they designed it the way they did. It's very easy to line up and takes very little torque to tighten it. I'm so used to the small Dremel style that this was a pleasant surprise. They give you an extra flex shaft which is nice but still be sure to grease it.The one drawback that I saw that on days when it's 100 degrees with very high humidity the shaft gets hot and no amount of fan air will keep it cool. However since we only get a few days like that here in Michigan that's not that big of an issue for me.I keep this hanging over one of my work benches and I do a lot of powdercoating which creates dust in the air. while this dust is not very dangerous it does, by its very purpose adhere to anything hot. Kind of like the motor shaft is going to get when I turn it on. So for that reason I do wrap it in a plastic bag when I'm coating since the motor cooling vents are open to the world. All in all if you really want a Foredom style tool without having to refinance the house, this is a very good choice and I am very happy with it. Plus for some reason the price today is much less than I paid only 4 months ago.

I’m amazed!
I’m simply amazed at the quality of this tool for the price. I’ve used it twice today to polish watch cases to excellent results. No problems with foot pedal control—just have to practice a bit to get the hang of it.As suggested by several others, before using I lubricated the flex shaft with silicon grease—was a snap. And as advertised, unit comes with a spare in the box.I’ve shopped around for professional jewelers flex shaft and head units before purchasing this unit—those units cost at least 3-5 times as much. Given the built quality of this unit I simply don't see how the pro units could be worth it (assuming this unit lasts several years, as I hope it will, then it will be a steal).

Quality-price
Even comes with an extra internak shaft for replacement. The motor is more than enough for any task, strong and fast.

Amazing tool for engraving!
I didn't even realize this tool had a forward and reverse setting, but with the RPMs this can achieve, plus the ease of the foot peddle, I really couldn't ask for more. I know its not the cheapest model available, but it's totally worth it.When I 1st started using it, I did notice that some of the oil was caring up from the dust I was making, but that stopped happening after a couple hours of use. On other thing though. If you are planning on going hot and heavy with a project that requires sustained use at full RPM, you will notice the grinder heating up around the handle.I try not to use it for more than about 20 minutes at a time, but honestly, my wrist can't take that much detail work without a break anyway, so again, I think this is the perfect making for my purposes.Would totally buy again, but with how sturdy this thing is, I doubt I'll ever need to. Haha!

Excellent quality.
The media could not be loaded. Well the cheesy after-thought instructions might be the worst English I’ve seen, but it doesn’t matter; for a little over $100 this is an absolutely top-quality tool. The foot pedal lets you control speed while being able to focus on the pencil-grip grinding head, made out of beautifully-machined aluminum. The motor is powerful, variable-speed, and relatively quiet. Motor is housed in a pro-grade casting that hangs out of the way behind the work area. Its an excellent tool; a whole step up from a dremel.
