Legendary sticks, good grip, but wildly different weights
I'm getting back into a bit of drumming after 30+ years and have bought a few different brands of 5A sticks. I bought these Promarks because I used that brand all those years ago (influenced, as I was, by my admiration for the drumming of Neil Peart). These sticks are made from hickory and have a coating (called Activegrip(TM)) that's claimed to become (deliberately) sticky when the hands get sweaty. I've not used them for long enough to properly assess that claim, but they certainly seem more secure in my hands than other sticks without such a coating. Individually, the sticks have a good feel and balance in use, but there is a bit of a difference between the two. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was, so weighed them on some kitchen scales. Whereas my other sticks differ in weight no more than 2-3 grams across each pair, these are WAY different ... one stick weighs 48g whereas the other weighs 58g! I feel that ~20% difference when using them. There were also some white marks on the sticks when they arrived. These seemed to be embedded into the coating material. I managed to scratch most of it off, and it is only cosmetic, but it was still a bit annoying. All in all, I was a bit disappointed. This may (or may not) have contributed to me mostly reaching for my pair of Vic Firths when I want to do a bit of practice.

Best sticks I've owned in 22 years of drumming.
Best sticks I've ever owned. Yes, the coating does come off after a few heavy gigs - but I'm yet to find drumsticks that are comfortable where this doesn't happen. Oh, and I did have a defective pair that broke (one stick) within 24 hours - but this was easily solved by Amazon. In terms of weight, they're well balanced and ideal for Roland V-Drums. The coating doesn't get too rubbery and end up causing blisters - which is a huge advantage over similar sticks from other brands. I cannot recommend these sticks enough for any digital drummers.

About turn!
A few days ago I gave these sticks a very critical review because I thought they were substandard. After communication with the very nice folks at D'addario I learned that in fact the sticks were fine but what looked like a crack was a remnants of packaging that had woven into the coating. A careful sponge down with a little water showed this to be the case :-) So I also said that I did like the sicks to play with and I want to reiterate that here. They are light and fast and really allow my grip to relax whilst still staying in my hands! All in all I've done a u-turn from 1 to 5 stars. Sorry for anyone who took notice of my original review in the 36hrs it was up. Luckily I am not an influencer so likely noone saw it anyways ;-). I'll buy some more of these definitely.

Amazing grip
Use these mainly for gigging as they simply refuse to fall out of my hands!

Cool drum stick - don't expect pristine print colouring
Purchase as present. Good in hand. Printing quality was not pristine which is a shame - made it feel lower quality especially for the brand and price.

Very nice sticks and have a very nice tactile feel with great rebound. The black coating is a nice touch and aides in grip and comfort. The 5B adds a little more power when making contact with the heads. Highly recommend
