Great system and sound for the price.
This is an excellent system from Yahama and a great deal for the price. Easy to install out of the box, I'm simply blown away by the sound quality and the surround sound you get while watching movies and shows on Netflix, Amazon video or any of the HD channels on Tata Sky. The wireless subwoofer produces great base and the biggest advantage is that you can place it anywhere in the room as it is wireless and connects automatically when the sound bar is powered on.Excellent seller and answered any questions I had, great communication and quick delivery. I highly recommend this seller.

Overall good sound quality for both movies and music.
I have used this sound bar about one week. And I have to say this is the best sound bars you can come across. The sound separation and the sound shift is equally good. And you can get thumping bass when needed. Both music and movies sounded good. DTS virtual X sound is bit strange, the sound quality is varied from content to content, Some sounded good and some doesn't. But the traditional surround mode is very good for movies. And stereo mode is good for music. Only concern is the longevity of the product because you are paying premium for that. it's overall very good sound bar.

You will not regret buying this
I wanted to buy a sound bar since the output from my expensive LG oled was not great. I short listed Bose Soundtouch 300 and Yamaha YAS 107. After going through live demos in store I decided to save money and finalised on Yamaha YAS 107. However before buying that I came across some good reviews online and I decided to buy Yamaha YAS 207 because it has external subwoofer and how good that decision was. I am completely blown away by this. The sound output from it is awesome be it music, action movies which I like to watch. Set up was very easy and I could do it myself. One small problem I have is the dialogues and background music. Though the dialogues are clearer than TV's output I have to keep on changing volume levels as for dialogues the level has to be higher to hear them and then it's too loud when background music plays. Other than this there is nothing to complain about. I am very happy with it and have not gone back to TV's speakers. The delivery by Amazon was extremely good. I would like to reiterate what another reviewer has said about external subwoofer. You have to feel them to know how much better they are from internal subwoofers.

Perfect for Movie
The set up is a breeze. Excellent to watch an action movie. The thumping bass from the sub woofer just awesome. Completes the need of a home theatre without the hassle of setting up a 5.1 or 7.1 home theatre.Sound effects delivery is fabulous. If in doubt of buying this I would say totally go for it it's a good buy.

Average performance with harsh DTS Virtual:X mode
Overall performance is average. Stereo and Dolby Pro Logic mode is average. DTS Virtual:X mode is working good, but it is extremely harsh. Had it provided any way to tame the harshness in this mode, this could have been a good sound bar. Subwoofer provides pretty good bass in DTS Virtual:X mode. Only harshness of this sound bar is its biggest drawback which makes it an average product.

Excellent with some minor quirks.
I recommend the Yamaha YAS -207 soundbar. I would not have purchased a sound bar without HDMI-ARC support. This makes using any soundbar seamless with any CEC, HDMI-ARC enabled TV. Only you TV remote is needed to turn the soundbar on or off, and adjust the volume. Other device remotes like the Amazon Fire Stick 4K will also work. If you’re not sure what CEC is or HDMI-ARC you should search the web for answers and check your TV manual.Setup:1. It was plug and play with a single HDMI cable (not included). I spent more time trying to open the L shaped box.2. CEC needs to be enabled on your tv. On my TV it was disable by default/.3. Speakers need to be disabled on your tv.4. Only an HDMI cable will control the sound bar using your everyday TV remote(s). This is the way you want to control the soundbar. Optical is the same sound quality without the control..Notes: (not an audiophile review)1. I have read that the soundbar does not work well at its lowest volumes. I found this to be true. If the bass is at normal levels or above, at low volumes, the soundbar does have a hard time and seems to fade in and out. Lowering the bass fixed any issue in this situation. I did not check if it was the subwoofer, the soundbar or both.. At low volume levels I don’t see the need for bass, so this is a fair trade off and did not noticeably affect the sound (TV Use).2. The remote is limited in some of the functions it should have. It is missing Movie, TV, Music, Sports and Game modes. These are included on the YAS 209 but at a cost. These settings need to be accessed through the Yamaha Home Theater smart phone app as the remote. I personally find having to use my phone adds another level of complication.3. DTS Virtual X is the default and only surround setting.4. There is a very short delay before the sound connects when using HDMI ARC.5. You still need the remote or phone app handy to adjust bass and other non-volume settings. I find there is no perfect setting for everything but you may find a single setting that works for you.Highlights:1. The sound is excellent.2. It does not have Alexa built-in (see the YAS-209) and is now $100 cheaper as of this review. Yes, I personally don’t want to speak to my sound bar, so this works for me.3. DTS Virtual X works great when the source is a good high action movies or TV show. Is it the bubble of sound from Virtual X, AHH… but it is amazing! Makes the TV and other connected devices much more enjoyable Including the Amazon Fire Stick 4K. .4. Clear voice is great and may not be necessary for you as the sound is already good. But it’s there.5. Led dimmer so you don’t see lights under your TV until you adjust the volume or other setting, then the lights go out again.6. Easily connected to my phone via Bluetooth (Samsung and Android).7. Low profile soundbar fit under the bezel of my TV. Not under the TV.8. System updated from factory to DTS Virtual X (Surround LED is Blue). Conclusions:Price drops made this unit a no brainer, as it is very close to the YAS-108 in price. The Yamaha YAS-108 does not include a subwoofer but seems to be a physically different soundbar. The sub is big, but I had a spot in my room. I have not used the soundbar for music so cannot comment but I will gather it beats any small Bluetooth speaker. HDMI pass through connection allows you to add a device directly to the soundbar. The HDMI-ARC connection takes up one HDMI input on your TV so this pass through adds that back to your TV. The manual does do go into depth about this connection. The Yamaha YAS-207 soundbar is an excellent product and value. It should last well beyond the life of your current TV. In this price range I did not see a better choice with HDMI-ARC and a HDMI passthrough port. There are some minor issues that make you scratch your head, but overall, I did not regret this purchase. There are features I did not explore nor do I have a high-end DVD player to test the unit’s full capability.

This setup blew me away with how great it is
To start this off I'll give a little context to my situation. TV speakers absolutely suck these days, and even on a Sony tv everything sounds like its underwater. I am an audiophile who cares a lot about good audio quality over bass, with accurate reproduction being an important feature to me. I've used ATH-m50X's in the past, some higher-end beyerdynamic headphones, and most recently some Beoplay H6's. Basically I know what good quality audio is supposed to sound like, and this soundbar certainly can deliver. Before purchasing this I went to best buy and tested a few different kinds of soundbars (mostly from TV makers) out to see if any could actually reproduce sound nicely at a decent price. Even $400 soundbars from Samsung sounded like crap in comparison to this. Even though I had a couple of Sonos wireless speakers already in the house I opted to not go for the Sonos beam because after testing it in best buy there was some noticeable distortion in the mids at lower volumes, which disappointed me. Now onto the review.Setup is fairly easy as long as you use HDMI over ARC to get it working---do that and it's basically plug and play. Yamaha includes an optical cable in the box for older TV setups, but this sort of setup would require some extra work. The owners manual might not be the most helpful for this process but I don't think this is unique to this soundbar.I frequently listen to more acoustic/instrumental pieces (classical) and love to sit on the couch and enjoy some nice symphonic music in the background to relax while reading a book. This soundbar/subwoofer combo set to surround makes it feel like the piano is right in front of me being played live, and the violins and accompanying music sound crystal clear with zero distortion from any of the instruments (this is not surprising considering Yamaha makes pianos). This is carried over into EDM/Pop music where the mids are again surprisingly clear, with a slightly bright tone that makes them sound wonderful. This is not to say that they're completely true to the original sound, but most people don't care about that and just want something that can handle the bass. The subwoofer actually delivers quite nicely on this, however it does distort a little bit on some of the heavier low frequencies if you turn the volume up. But, this is bass coming from a subwoofer so unless you have a trained ear you probably won't notice this at all. At higher volumes, a little distortion peeks in for the mids and the bass becomes somewhat overpowering. I live in an apartment complex and would prefer not to disturb my neighbors so I don't think I'll ever be turning it up that loud again (and I don't imagine most people would either, so this isn't really a concern). For movies and TV the sound clarity is also shockingly amazing. I tried it out with some rain sounds to get an idea of what it was like, and they came through crystal clear just like the music. It felt like I was sitting outside in a rainstorm. Dialogue sounds pretty great, to the point where I don't think I would need to use the clear dialogue feature (if you are someone who has difficulty hearing things, there's a button on the remote to enable it). Speaking of the remote this sytem does come with a dedicated remote for tuning the volume of the soundbar and subwoofer individually, a feature others in this price point are missing. Sounds are wonderful and come through clearly, with a decent amount of surround effect for a speaker that's sitting right in front of you. Again, I was very impressed considering it only cost $300 for the setup. The combo also comes with a bluetooth connectivity feature and a 3.5mm input in the back of the soundbar for hardwired connections. I didn't test the bluetooth as I had a chromecast setup to play music and videos over wifi, which is overall a much better sound than bluetooth could ever reproduce---but it's there if you wanted it for some reason.Overall if you're looking to not spend too much on a sound bar this is the right choice. It offers the best sound quality for the price and you will not be disappointed. More expensive soundbars can't compare to how great this one sounds.

Best Soundbar for its Price, Out-Competes its Competition (with the firmware update)
So far I'm pretty happy with this soundbar. I was really aching for a Sonos playbar, but at $700 I just couldn't justify it, not on my budget. I searched and scoured the internet for more reasonably priced soundbars that could compete. I also wanted a subwoofer, and the Sonos subwoofer also costs $700. I ended up coming to two systems, this Yamaha and the LG SH7B. The LG soundbar, which I only demoed, had a good base and was able to produce surround sound decently. It was also really loud. It has a good amount of built-in features, but because of the direction of entertainment technology, many devices include those features anyway in one form or another. However, every tech review I read online comparing the two gave higher marks to the Yamaha YAS207. And it is cheaper. After all kinds of research, I went with the Yamaha. Without the DTS Virtual sound enabled, it sounds like it's priced. But with it enabled, I can say it definitely beats all other soundbars in its price range. The sound quality is so enhanced, and it delivers a wide range. And with its Clear Voice and Bass Extension functions, it competes with higher-end soundbars. The subwoofer is only so-so without Bass Extension. If you need bass that blows up, it won't do it for you. But I don't like my walls vibrating and I'm sure my neighbors wouldn't either. I actually have to turn down the bass a lot because it can be too powerful for me.Fair warning, you need to update the firmware. It's easy enough: Google Yamaha Yas 207 firmware update, download the file, extract, and put the file onto an empty USB drive. Plug the drive into the bar, old the decrease volume and power buttons for 3 seconds. All of this is in the firmware directions. Easier than it reads.I know some reviewers think this product matches the Sonos, but I really it doesn't. If you can afford it, go with the Sonos. Splurge. But I didn't want to break my bank, and this Yamaha really more than makes up for it. The bluetooth feature is great for thing like connecting my phone or my Amazon Echo, and the HDMI ARC functionality allows me to only have to use one cord to connect to the TV (your TV needs to support ARC). The only thing I wish it did better was move the sound through the speakers to more emulate a home theater. And the setup was super easy, especially when the subwoofer is wireless. Tip: try to get excellent or like new used items from other sellers here on Amazon. I got mine discounted from Amazon warehouse. The box was bruised but the item was perfect. I definitely recommend this soundbar to anyone trying to get the best quality and value without spending a fortune.

Phenomenal sound quality, great price
Really impressed, especially considering the price. My current setup consists of RX-V681 Yamaha receiver + JBL floor standing speakers + center speaker. I recently bought a smaller OLED TV for my den and needed a simple, versatile setup. I play guitar and consider myself a discerning, demanding customer. I am certainly an audiophile.Pros:1) Very rich sound in 3D Surround mode, both for music and movies. Sounds superior to both LG and Vizio in my opinion. I did install the DTS Virtual:X firmware update from Yamaha official website. The firmware update was supposed to come out in August 2017, however, Yamaha managed to push it out much earlier on July 19th.2) Easy, straightforward setup. Simple update procedure via USB stick.3) Powerful wireless subwoofer rocks4) Support for the latest and greatest 4K technologies - HDMI | HDCP 2.25) Slim, space-saving design.Cons:1) Could've been sexier-looking. Wish speaker cover was made out of metal, not cloth.2) Yamaha's remote control app (iOS) works well, however, it is somewhat ugly.3) No support for Wi-Fi playback such as Google Chromecast, Spotify Connect, etc. Google Chromecast Audio dongle fixes all that for $35 or so.Please note that I wasn't not able to compare DTS Virtual:X with Dolby Atmos. Conclusions:Incredible bang for the buck - rich, immersive sound for less than $300 in a compact, lightweight, easy-to-setup package.Highly recommended!!UPDATE: I see that many people complain in their reviews that "the sound doesn't seem to come from above in Surround Mode as expected given that the sound bar supports DTS Virtual:X (aka "DTS:X") technology. We are not impressed - Doby Atmos is better."Please keep in mind that in order to experience DTS:X, you need both the hardware and the content to support the format. In other words, not only you need to have your Yamaha YAS-207 with the latest firmware update installed, the audio source (e.g. UHD disk) has to have a DTS:X sound track encoded on it as well. You won't hear 11.1 sound while watching Pacific Rim in 4K - the UHD lacks DTS Virtual:X soundtrack - it only has DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1. The sound will be surround but not DTS:X surround. You will, however be able to enjoy the DTS:X sound while watching Battleship in 4K - assuming your 4K player is set up correctly sending out non-PCM but Dolby/DTS sound (DD/DTS button is lit green while it plays the movie, and the Surround button is lit blue). Here is the confirmed list of DTS:X encoded movie titles as of July 19th, 2017:American UltraBattleship (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray)The Big ShortThe Bourne Identity (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray)The Bourne Legacy (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray)The Bourne Supremacy (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray)The Bourne Ultimatum (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray)Crimson PeakDaddy's HomeDespicable Me (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray)Despicable Me 2 (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray)DivergentDracula Untold (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray)E.T. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Hello, I am not one to leave a lot of reviews unless I'm feeling very passionate about sharing an incredible experience with a product I feel is really worth it. I must tell you, the YAS-207 is amazing. I am not an audiophile. I'm just a regular guy, new to sound bars, who was looking for a decent bar to improve my TV/movie and bluetooth music experience. I purchased the YAS-207 as my first ever sound bar and it had big shoes to fill as I was simplifying and this bar was replacing a 5.1 Denon/HK surround sound system. Obviously, I knew the sound would not on the same level as my 5.1 system. The first time I heard the YAS-207 and not having any previous experience with sound bars, I thought it sounded pretty good, but I still questioned if I should have bought a more expensive bar. However, I upgraded the firmware to allow the DTS surround sound function and WOW!!!!!! I sat on the couch and played some music and I found myself quickly becoming lost in the sound...what a pleasurable experience it was.I really enjoyed the sound of the YAS-207, but not having any previous experience with sound bars I still felt like I needed to look at more expensive ones to really get a feel for any differences. The next day I was talked into purchasing a Klipsch sound bar from a big box store for $399. I thought, well the Klipsch has to be better based on price alone and the salesman was ecstatic about Klipsch. I took it home and hooked the Klipsch up right away and what an unbelievable disappointment. This morning, I hooked the YAS-207 back up and was instantly blown away after having listened to the Klipsch over the previous 24 hours. Listening to this system after installing the firmware upgrade reminded me of the Bose store experience where you go in their demo movie room and you're just blown away by sound only to discover the sound was coming from these tiny hidden speakers the whole time. Obviously, this system is not on par with a Bose surround sound system, but that feeling of immersive and deep breath of music surrounding you is legit with the YAS-207. I will be happily keeping the YAS-207 and highly recommending it to everyone I know, especially the salesman at the big box store when I return the Klipsch system today. So that is my experience and like I said I'm not an audiophile, but there were several things I really like about the YAS-207. The Yamaha app is a nice feature to control the unit. The speaker and subwoofer are well built and feel sturdy. The design of the bar is very sleek and attractive. The subwoofer is powerful and hearty sounding. The remote control that comes with the unit is okay, but most sound bar remotes I've seen seem to be cheap. I wish the remote had back/forward/play/pause buttons which would allow to play/pause or go to the previous or next track if playing music. The instructions were clear and setting up the system was a breeze. I have no complaints and I am more than happy with this purchase and price point. This system is half of what my budget was for a sound bar and I couldn't be happier with it. I would highly recommend the YAS-207 for anyone looking for a sound bar in the $200-$400 range. Just a reminder though....make sure you do the firmware update (done via USB stick) to really allow the YAS-207 to shine. Thanks for reading and hopefully this encourages somebody to purchase this system so they may have the same experience I have had. I am truly impressed with Yamaha...they hit a home run in my books with this one.
