I read the reviews first, of course, had some good, not so good. I am a environmentalist and I really wanted these to work. I began my own experiment. I smelled my socks, the kitchen rags And the dog bed, which he peed on (I didn't smell this), so I could get a base line of a before and after smell, then I washed with the wash balls, I did NOT add anything. THEY WORK!! No fancy smell of course because no detergent, but my items were clean. Next day kitchen rags and my dogs cloth harness, which he has worn 24 hrs a day for about a year.. the collar was dirty and full of fur. Anthony's harness is CLEAN now, no dog fur no dirt. Don't know how these balls are with people whom have really dirty jobs, I would pretreat. These wash balls are the Best invention since the ATM card and DVD player, oh and the microwave. So for you individuals whom are not happy with the balls I know you people aren't happy with anything, doesn't surprise me you all don't like them, you probably also had a problem with the ATM card, DVD player and microwave when it first came out. Ignore the bad reviews. I am so Happy I bought these.....YAY no more detergent!!! And I also have the dryer balls, These are also great. Sending these items to my sons.

I was skeptical! The first load I tried was on our towels. Someone had put a wet towel in the laundry hamper and it was all the way on the bottom. The towels were so stinking that I thought this would be a great load to start with. The mildewy smell was totally gone and they felt and smelled fresh. This ball is all that I have been using and so far it is doing a great job. I will say that if you are used to using laundry soap with a strong fragrance then you may not feel the same. They do not come out smelling like anything but clean. I think the key is to make sure you soak the ball in water for at least an hour before your first use. It is supposed to "activate" the crystals. Also, be sure to "clean" it by letting it sit in the sun at least once a month. I have had mine for almost two months and have done about 17 loads of laundry including our dog's bed and towels. It works great.

I was a little skeptical at first, because some of my clothes can get pretty smelly, but was pleasantly surprised at how this product performs. Similar products of these in the past have not lived up to what they claim. My clothes come out smelling clean and fresh without the perfume. The directions do you say to pre-treat with something if there are stains, and I can see were these are not real effective on grease. And I still bleach my whites, but all in all, I’m saving tons of money, and have clean laundry.

This is my second set of them. No issues what so ever. Long ago I used the powdered stuff always a mess no matter how careful, then I went to liquid that ended real quick when the valve malfunctioned and leaked 2 gallons of detergent all over creation. Such a huge mess the fire department has mat team had to give me specific instructions for the clean up. Can't recall how I learned of the washer laundry balls but I'm not going back to the former way of measuring the powder or liquid stuff. THANK YOU AMAZON!

I really liked the idea of these washer balls and they did get my clothes clean and smelling good. The problem was that after about 5 uses, the little pieces inside the balls were being deposited in my washer and on my clothes.

DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM: Amazing Super Wash Ball (Set of 2) - Never Use Laundry Detergent or Powder Again. The product shipped in no way represents the product listed on Amazon: The product is packaged in two very old and shabby-looking boxes with no English printed on them. There were several languages, but no English. The only way I could make any sense of how to use these laundry balls was to go to the web site embossed on the product: smartklean.com. I found instructions there. There was a cryptic note on the invoice written in poor English: "This model is new and improved with added magnitic pow er! Color may Very and style can be different. Now sented." I definitely do not want scented! The product capability on the smartklean web site was far less than that advertised on Amazon. Amazon advertised the product could be used for up to 1,000 washes, while the smartklean site said the product could be used for up to 365 washes. This is about 1/3 of what Amazon advertised. I am not the first customer to receive this inferior product: there is already a comment in a review on Amazon feedback that another customer received an unacceptable product. I don't know if Amazon did followup, but the seller is still sending inferior product. I don't think Amazon should continue to deal with this seller as his practices reflect very poorly on Amazon. I bought the one Biocera wash ball, but bought these for my daughter and brother. These wash balls are also made by Biocera. My son-in-law works in a tire factory and his clothes smell like rubber. My daughter also had an odor in her washing machine and had tried everything to get rid of it. My son-in-laws clothes are clean and the odor is gone in the washing machine. My daughter also has many allergies to wash detergents and this has not bothered her at all. The clothes are soft and clean and they are so pleased with these wash balls. Not to mention the fact they are saving money in a long run. My brother and his wife are also very happy with them. These are a great product and I forgot to mention that my sister also bought them. The hardest thing to get use to is not seeing any suds or using softner. It has made washing clothes so much easier. I suggest using the warm water, because I always follow the instructions.
