Only one I can find not made in China
Does what an ice maker outlet should do, sweats on well, mounts sturdily. What’s not to like.

Works as desiged NOT NPT THREAD!
Excellent valve/box combination. One note on installation, I did not install it as shown in the picture with the outlet straight out. The connection ends up terminating flush to the wall. This seems OK until you figure in pushing the fridge back almost to the wall. I angled the valve about 45 degrees to the left to facilitate the hose coming out of the valve. This also allowed better access to the valve lever which was kinda hard to get to when the valve was mounted as shown in the picture. As far as using a threaded connection you can't. There are several different types of threads in plumbing and this one does not use the necessary National Pipe Thread (NPT) which is a tapered thread necessary for the proper seal of the connection. Although you could kludge something and make it so it won't leak that's asking for trouble for something mounted in a wall. Sweating the pipe on isn't too difficult if you use a wet rag over the pipe near the plastic parts and use a high heat torch. I used a street elbow to a short piece of copper pipe to the proper male NPT thread to a pex female 90 to run up the wall to the ceiling (only options available at the big box store.) The arrestor works as advertized and the fridge no longer makes the pipes bang.

Pex is the term for the tubing which you then can attach to your various fitting like this box
The reason for 4 stars is that this would not work with my plumbers Pex product. Pex is the term for the tubing which you then can attach to your various fitting like this box. My guy uses Wirsbo, which is a 20 year product that uses a unique way of clamping/crimping down onto the box. The Wirsbo system connector was too big for this products attachment end. The hassle was to go out and find locally and more pricey a ice maker box that he could use at 4:30 pm and the water is off. The plumbers supply house had it.Just make sure that the pex crimping system you use will work for this or any other fitting you use. Will return, no product complaints

It is better than what I had in that it actually turns off, however I would have preferred one that didn't require permanent gluing. The old style was threaded and made replacement easier. From what I can tell the company doesn't offer a 1/2" threaded version. The silly thing is that if they had the foresight to make the thread for mounting to the box 1/2 ntp it could be used either way. I had to buy extra pipe and fittings to work with my setup. Would probably be great for new install. I wouldn't have bothered but the quality of the valve surpassed anything i could get locally.

you know, it's fine i guess
Works fine, didn't crack or blow up during installation, and seems to have a decent quality valve on it. I wish the formulation of the plastic was just a little more 'solid' feeling for something I'm building into my house. I think I saw this sentiment expressed before ordering and I'm here to echo it. Feels flimsy and delicate. Lives behind the fridge so I guess that's fine.

Valve itself is excellent. The plastic that houses it is a little thin, but shouldn't alter functionality or reliability if not abused. If it were a bit thicker even just in where the valve passes through it would allow for a more secure and solid feeling mount. That said, would def. buy again and much better than others I have purchased.

Not As Represented
So I received this product which advertised the insert itself and a front plate that snaps on. It looked great in the product listing. I received it and there was no front plate. I've attached a photo of the box which didn't seem large enough to include the front trim. Was it left out by accident? Does the product not actually include this? I'll never know because I actually had to finish the job. BUYER BEWARE

Missing faceplate, different from product picture
I ordered two of these, and neither one looks quite like the product photo. There is a plastic faceplate which snaps onto the front and generally looks like the product photo, but only one of the boxes I received has it. (edit: after contacting the manufacturer they shipped me another faceplate free of charge)The actual plumbing and construction looks nice, but the product picture sucks and you might not get the whole thing.

Seamless retrofit
This worked flawlessly. I cut the hole in the wall, ran the pipe through the footer instead of up through the floor, and attached some wood strips behind the drywall to hold the tabs. With the pex pipe attached I was able to slide the box into the hole and line up with the blocks, and tightened up. Installed the faceplate/bezel around the outside, which covered the screws. Now if there is another leak I don't have to go downstairs to turn off the water. Awesome!!
