I plan on using these for an 8 foot by 4 foot wood work bench. Will they hold up?

If your work bench weighs less than 1000 lbs they should do fine. However, depending on how your work bench is constructed, the work bench might sag in the middle with only 4 casters.

Has anyone attached these to the end of a 4x4? (3 9/16" x 3 9/16")

Yes. The bolts will pull out more easily in end grain on the post. But they do work well.

They don’t say where they’re made. Obviously not American made. Probably China. I used them on my miter saw table. I have limited space, so I wheel my saw out into the middle of the room and lock the casters. I’m very happy with these casters and would buy them again.

According to some the bolt pattern is 1.77 x 2.95. I need to install these using a u-bolt, could i use a 3 inch (diameter) u-bolt? Will it fit 2.95?

Mine (Jan 2022) came with slotted holes, so a 3" u-bolt (up to 5/16" dia) will easily fit - or, if beefier, the slots can be drilled to 3/8" where the bolt will pass.
