A Perfect Treat!
Another winner in the "Little Gems" series from Barrington Stoke. The story by Jonathan Meres, about a science and football loving girl called Priya, is gentle and reassuring; many children will be able to see themselves amongst the beautifully illustrated (by Hannah Coulson) pages. With the yummy covers, it looks good enough to eat, and should appeal to children (and those of us born in the time of dinosaurs) of 6/7 upwards - dyslexia friendly too! Perfect!

Vivid Story Telling in a beautiful format
The Little Gems series is such a success, and with stories like these you can see why more and more schools are beginning to depend on them as the perfect way to entice newly independent readers to build their skills. This is a wonderful story about sharing and friendship and community. Priya is a great character and her relationship with nana-ji is the heart and soul of this story. I particularly loved the illustrations by Hannah Coulson which are just beautiful and really bring the story to life.
