Excellent Pumps
These Jebao pumps are great. I've owned a couple over the past 8 years or so and they've been pretty much flawless despite my attempts to break them. I've literally ran them dry, ran them under vacuum with inlet and outlet sealed, and with all types of debris in the pump. I had one on a system on a metal rack that I needed to rework. I had to cut some of the metal bars to run pipe through. I didnt notice that a 2 inch piece of metal bar fell into the pump. The pump ran for a while and then locked up. I didnt notice until the following morning. Disassembled, removed the metal, and put it back together. Good as new. I can't say if its the pumps that are robust or the controller is smart and prevents damage, but these are very reliable. Its also damn near silent even at the full 40w on the 5000. Literally cannot hear it from a few feet away. Very little heat is produced. Excellent pumps.

Truly amazing for the price
This is my first foray into the world of DC variable water pumps, I have a massive collection of ac pumps and never considered anything else before a few months ago. You will not find a better, well thought out pump on Amazon in this price category. I know this because I initially bought a different model that was $10 less, and none of the fittings were even remotely compatible with any type of widely available metric or imperial tubing or pipe in the US. This DCP 3500 has a hard pipe connection that is an excellent fit with 3/4" PVC, which is what I'll be plumbing with, and a nice tight 3/4 barb which I'm using for testing purposes. No rigging anything together, it all works out of the box. Noise was not a contributing factor in my purchase, but it is the quietest pump I've ever owned. Even without suction cups, just sitting in the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket, it's completely silent. The power is incredible for such a small pump, an ac pump with this amount of flow would be 1.5x the size and 3-4x the wattage. Speaking of wattage, I live off grid, and water pumps really start to add up when you're using several, I'm so impressed with this pump I've already ordered another 3500 as a backup, and a 2500 for moving the fluidized bed in my sump/for water changes. The variable flow is such a cool feature (I realize this is inherent to DC pumps in general), being able to match the 4 overflows that are feeding this without a ball valve and a guess is pretty awesome, and it pumps great even at the lowest setting, at least in initial testing. The value is incredible. Compared to the other pump I initially purchased, everything just works with this one. Don't settle for weird fitting sizes that are going to require major modifications to make work, I can't trust that in a permanent installation and you shouldn't either. Looking around online, replacement controllers are available, that isn't going to happen with any of the other pumps in this price range. I can't speak to longevity, but based on my reading these are either great or a dud, and it should be known soon enough, I'll update my review if I have any issues. The only cons I see are that the barbed adapters aren't the best quality I've run across, but far from the worst, and because they're well fitting with standard 3/4 vinyl and silicone tubing they don't need to be wildly torqued down with a hose clamp and I don't foresee any issues. The instructions are in the second half of the manual, and convey enough to understand how everything works if you are a competent English reader, but they're also very sparse on extra information you might want, like o-ring size, etc. I highly recommend this pump, even if it only lasted a year I would consider it an excellent value at this price point, but hopefully I'll get much more life than that.

Great affordable pump
First time water feature builder, and I saw good reports on this pump and it behaving as well as more expensive pumps with fewer features. It hooked up easily and pushed water through my 2" tubing quickly and silently. Honestly, I can't tell that it's running except for all the water it spits out. The controller is easy to operate, but it lacks an off switch. You can pause it for 10 min, but not shut it off completely without unplugging it. The only "issues" I found were connecting the tubing to the pump was a bit more difficult due to the small outlet size. I could have used 1.5" tubing, but would have seen flow reduced as a result. Also, you can only adjust flow down to 30% of max, but this can be worked around by controlling flow with a ball valve. I could have bought a smaller size for my 18" x 25' x 6" deep waterfall/stream. The lowest speed flows a great amount of water through the stream with a waterfall at the head and 3 more cascades before getting to the water reservoir. Lastly, my only other complaint is the length of the power cable between the controller and the pump. I was able to find extensions for it, but there weren't many choices. I'm not sorry I bought it and it has been running flawlessly for 2 weeks now.

Waaay Too Quiet!
I purchased another pump from Amazon about five years ago. It was the best pump I ever purchased. It let me forget that there was a pump running all the time. Unfortunately, be it due to our very hard (actual EPA rating) water or time, it started working sporadically, costing me two of my mature (6+-inch) tropicals. I forgot what the other was, but in my experience shark cats are tolerant of everything except stagnant or insufficiently moving water. I guess their similarity to sharks goes beyond their appearance. I returned to Amazon for the replacement, knowing that I could find a far better variety than any local supplier. I was not disappointed. This pump is super quiet. I attribute this to it being a DC rather than AC motor. I can vary the flow. This is important, because I use a homemade sump system, and this allows me to choose whether to push or pull the flow. What I mean is that I can make it return to the main tank a little faster than gravity pulls it out, and therefore have slightly more water flowing through the system overall than a fixed-rate system. Mine is a freshwater sump system. The main tank is a 72-gallon pre-drilled bow. The sump is a 15-gallon tank with a ten-gallon tank that serves as the physical and biological filtration section. This leaves a 5-gallon chemical filtration refugium space where the pump sits and returns the water back to the main tank return port that is about four feet above, flowing through about five feet of 1-inch tubing. I am not nearly as much of a techie as this may make me seem, so do not ask me about the physics. I am a tinkerer and experimenter who is never satisfied with the status quo or conventional solutions. On my list of projects is to build a(nother) stand which fits better aesthetically with my Bride's excellent décor. The way this pump functions makes me all the more eager to get it done.

Works great if you get one that works and packaged correctly.
I like to buy ‘used’ on Amazon if there is an option and significant savings. 1st ‘used’ one from the Amazon warehouse came with a 240v adapter. I’m like WTH, I’m in the US. Not sure why it got here in the states in the first place. (Returned) 2nd ‘used’ one from the Amazon warehouse, same as first one above (240v adapter!) (returned) 3rd one, I decided to get ‘new’ to avoid this 240v adapter issue. This one works perfect. Runs silent and I can control the flow based on my sump overflow needs (5 stars) (Kepted) 4th one - decided to buy another ‘new’ one but this one came with a p4 error right out the box. It’s either the controller or impeller not working issue. I swapped the controller with my existing working one (my 3rd one above) and found it was the new pump not working (returned) So I love jebao (I have a few of their equipment such as older wp-60) and when it works, it’s flawless. But when it doesn’t, see above.

Up to snuff with the $200+ pumps
Some of the components feel a little flimsy and roughly manufactured. However everything fits together well. It is very quiet. And the variatable speeds save electricity. The controller is simple enough to use. It has been in use for almost a year and is working very well. I was glad I purchased it and it has served me well. No leaks at all. Comes with glue unions which I used my regular PVC glue and primer on. Be careful of sizing this pump to your tank. The GPH rating is generous and does not factor in feet of head (height the pump has to send the water) the flow rates go down the higher it goes. All this to say this was perfect for my 100 gallon tank + 40 gallon sump. Update: 2 years running. Had a slight leak so I took it apart for a repair. The main body O-Ring failed and was leaking. Not the worst after two years but O-Rings should last a bit longer. I happen to be a commercial water valve technician so I had a replacement on hand. Upon complete take down and clean of all motor components it wasn’t over all in like new condition. After replacing the o-rings it worked like the day I first plugged it in. If I were you I would highly recommend contacting the seller who is very friendly and responsive and ask to buy a spare o-ring kit. And get some o-ring lube. In case you have the same issue. I personally will be buying a second pump to have on hand. Return pumps die or leak all the time it is what they do. If you have a spare that is the same one you can drop in the new one and get parts for the old one. Fish can’t wait for 2-day shipping. I still give this a 5-star. You can buy 5 of these for the price of the “name brand” dc pumps. If your buying this for the first time buy one more than you need. You will always be prepared for an emergency. I’ve seen other reviews about some mfg issues. They don’t have great quality control but they make up for it in customer support. And for the guy who put thread tape on an o-ring union 🤦🏼♂️. C’mon man! The o-ring in the union does the sealing not the threads. Don’t leave one star reviews because you don’t know basic plumbing. Guys o-rings fail. Have spares! And check your equipment often.

Pretty quiet, easy to adjust flow rate
Running for about a week. This pump is powerful and I am running it with my 180 gallon pumping up 6 feet of vertical head. Pretty quiet, easy to adjust flow rate, no more frustration trying to turn the valve bit by bit... Fast shipping!
