Funny. Explosive. Bizarre.
I picked this up to do a university assignment on, but I'd also watched the anime before - and despite both of those, I still come to this with a fresh look every time. No matter how many times you read, or re-read, JoJo, it always promises more in the way of laughter, randomness and memorable characters. The first volume of Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable, we meet our main guy, the newest JoJo, Josuke Higashikata - but are also reunited with some old friends, and plenty of fresh faces. We're introduced to some great antagonists, and an object with which this part promises more in the way of the world's explanation; and more expansion in the way of Stands. The artstyle from Araki is great, the dialogue is genuinely riveting and for the price, you get nearly 400 pages per volume. All housed in a really beautiful hardback. Just mesmerising.

Perfect
I'm glad that they're starting to pump these collections out in a more efficient way of bundling big chunks of the manga into big books and it also makes for a format that provides bigger pages than is usually the standard in manga which is great considering how beautiful the art of part 4 is, the colored pages where an absolute treat as well. Some part of me wishes i could pay a higher premium to have the entire thing colored but i know they want to get out the definitive versions of the original manga before they start goofing around with these wacky suggestions. In summary: BUY IT

Great
As somebody who originally watched the anime, the manga does add a certain charm that the anime failed to bring to the table.

If you are looking up to buy this manga then I believe you must be familiar with the Jojo franchise. DiU is the natural evolution of all the previous parts that came before. The characters are as flushed out and believable as ever. At the same time the story still has some bizzare elements (hence the name duh), all of which adds to the experience. Araki's art is as great as ever - his shading, detailing, unique character designs are all on point. Overall this is the most chill and emotionally gripping part I have ever read and I encourage everyone to give this a shot.

I may be a bit biased with this review, seeing as part 4 is one of my favorite JoJo parts, but this is definitely a must-have for any fans of the series, or maybe even those who like DIU in terms of the anime. Sure, it is early part 4, so it looks more like part 3 in a way. And not to mention a lot of the localized names aren't that great, they're almost laughably bad in my opinion (i.e. Shining Diamond, Worse Company). But it is still JoJo, and it's definitely worth reading through.
