does it say china on the blade?

It's a nice little knife but it does say China on it.

Does this knife have a locking mechanism to prevent accidental closure?

No. It's just a small pen-knife type knife; pressure from use keeps the blade from closing. Usually larger-bladed knives have a locking mechanism.

What do I use to sharpen the blade? I've had this over a year and love it, but I need to sharpen it but not ruin it by doing it wrong. Any suggestions

I use a diamond machining technology (DMT) sharpener--fine + medium surfaces. Actually, I use only the fine and amazingly enough that seems sufficient. The one I have no longer appears to be listed on Amazon, but I would think any fine DMT sharpener would be OK--they're relatively inexpensive.
