The shocking true story of Albert Fish, the most monstrous serial killer in the history of America. In 1928 ten year old Grace Budd is taken to a party by a kindly old grandfather but is never seen again. After a six year search detectives finally arrest Albert Fish but are completely unprepared for the horrors as they uncover a trail of murder, mutilation and cannibalism.

The horrific true story of an elderly sadomasochist, cannibal, deranged, serial killer, who lured children to their deaths.
Patrick Bauchau who played an old mam Albert Fish, in this thriller about Albert Fish the real life serial killer of missing children, who knows but only him how many lost there lives to him, set in the 1930's New York America. In this film you never see the killing, your thoughts are with the children, with the fright and suffering they went through by his hand. jack Conley had presence and an aura about him, who played the detective that made it tis job to find Fish. Well acted and the director gave the storytelling meaning.

More information needed
A good adaptation but it would be so much better if they had gone more into his background as to why he did those unspeakable atrocities. Might be a good one to remake.

Thought provoking. Well worth watching!
Without resorting to too much gore, this portrayal of the infamous Albert Fish is even more riveting. Too often we see" sensational" dramatisations of real events. This is simple in it's approach to the true story of a man who went to the extremes of depravity to satisfy his cravings. I would suggest reading a little about Fish, before watching the film.

Not sure I'd want to say 'I love it' given the nature of the subject
Not sure I'd want to say 'I love it' given the nature of the subject, but on so many levels this is a real surprise find. Very well acted, directed and shot. Almost 30s noire. Top notch - hope I sleep tonight.

True Life Horrific child abduction story
Based on actual events we are introduced to Albert Fish; a man who was brought up in the nineteenth century orphanage system and suffered physical abuse. He goes on to be a self flagellant and lover of children's flesh. He concocts a story to abduct an innocent ten year old girl which makes all of the papers. We also have the story of the missing person's bureau and the new technology of fingerprints and one detectives dogged determination to find out what happened to this girl. Along the way there will be many upsets and surprises. Now this is actually quite an accomplished film. Some of the acting and direction was a bit wooden to begin with but that soon passes - so needs bearing with. The story is the real strength here as that is what makes you want to continue to the end - despite the unsavoury details taking place on screen. Not for the easily shocked but a compelling film all the same.

Move along now, nothing to see here.
This could have been so much more. If I said the film introduces new investigative techniques, delves into the mind of a disturbed individual and recounts a true story, I'm sure like me, you'd give this film a go. It does those things, in such a terrible way, that the positives of the film are completely overshadowed. Too many times the script is weaker than a day old chick, too many times the deliverance of the script is so wooden that even Geppetto couldn't breath life into it and too many times the film shies away from anything more than superficial.Such a shame though. The subject matter is ripe for the kind of tense thriller you could imagine coming from the pen of Thomas Harris. Add in a self abusing cannibal, a grizzled detective and a string of unsolved cases, you would think you were onto a winner. Sadly not though.

Very slow beginning, passable middle, disastrous end
The first fifteen minutes are utterly mind-numbing. Then it starts to get somewhere, and you hope it will all be explained in the end. Unfortunately, no attempt whatsoever is made at understanding why those murders were committed.

He's far worst than the impression the movie leaves you with
It was a well-done movie insofar as true crime movies go but does not deliver the true horror that Fish did to himself or to others. He's far worst than the impression the movie leaves you with.

Gray Man movie
We bought the Gray Man because we were in the movie. We were disappointed because a lot of the better scenes, not the ones with us in them, were not used. We spent a lot of time with the crew so we saw a lot of the shoots. It would have been a more interesting movie had they kept it as shot. I guess this happens in every movie.

A Horrible True Story Done Right
This movie, which could have been done with the horrendous gore and spectacular vividness of today's special effects teams, was very tastefully done instead. The film tells the awful story without dwelling in the sensational, but taking the real life characters to present them as nearly true to life as possible. Having watched the filming of this movie made me aware of this early serial killer in America that has escaped the modern world's attention. He killed and cannibalized children. He was evil personified, yet...he was a father of six children himself, a single parent who was so tortured by his obsessions that he punished himself in gruesome ways to try to atone for the murders. Albert Fish, a name known to only those who study aberrations in humans, is portrayed brilliantly by Patrick Bauchau. Jack Conley plays the almost washed up detective who actually puts together the random molestations and disappearances of children in the 1920's, working the case of one child. He follows leads that take him on a six year mind-bending mission until he finally is able to track down the amazingly twisted Fish. Directed by Scott Flynn, this film takes you to places in the human mind that most will never encounter, but it does make the viewer aware that background checks are a good thing!

very boring story....
I find Albert Fish to be an interesting subject. I was looking forward to this movie and then I watched it and....well...it is really boring. It also leaves out some of his more perverse and interesting quirks. The movie has Albert Fish acting "odd" once his children are adults. However, he acted odd way before that. Once his wife left him for another man...he fed his children raw meat but only on full moons. Albert's letters to women asking if they would like to participate in his perversities were also left out. Plus his paddle wasn't mentioned...The narration of the movie with the detective taking over was very annoying. The narration sounded like some cheesey gumshoe from a film noir rather than an officer to be taken seriously. The pace of the movie was slow and at times it didn't seem that time passed then oh yeah it did. It was very disappointing and lame.
