Great book for the dinosaur lover 🦕 🦖 in your life This is my youngest son’s second copy of the encyclopedia- he loves the vibrant pictures and all the information. My favorite thing is that it list all of the dinosaur names phonetically so it makes them easier to pronounce. Definitely would purchase again

Large full color book jam packed with all things Dino. Not a quick read, this one is well worth its price and has so much info and pictures. Perfect for Dino lovers young and old.

My child loves loves loves this book! The images are out of this world and it well describes a lot of aspects of dinosaurs and evolution. The books hardcover was a little bent on the edging due to it not being packaged well but I'm not going to take stars away from the book since that's a packaging issue on the sellers end or through amazon.

Bought this for my 4 year old grandson and he absolutely loves it. I love it! What a great informative book with great content and illustrations. You can’t go wrong with this.

I bought this book for the little dinosaur loving grandchildren, the oldest being 5 and 6 years old. I was more attracted to the eye on the cover than anything else. I wanted to challenge them by stepping out of the realm of just a scary T-Rex. This book is much than just dinosaurs and more advanced than I anticipated but it is also a book that is thick and full of knowledge waiting to be obtained. I love pulling science into their little minds so I’ve started with sitting and looking at pictures. It is not a hardback so a bit more fragile. It is, in my opinion, a book of privilege so it stays protected on a shelf which in turn it becomes like the forbidden fruit. They love this book.

As always DK in conjunction with the Smithsonian publishes high quality work. I do not possess a copy of the 1st edition so I cannot compare it to that but I do have a similar publication from DK, Prehistoric Life. In many regards this work is an updated version of that book, smaller, but more focused, and striking the right balance between a person with little background in the subject to one more familiar with paleontology. The topics were arranged logically so material is easy to find. As another reviewer pointed out, this deals with much more than just dinosaurs, but dinosaurs are still the major focus. It makes sense though to address the origin of the dinosaur body and to put them in their historical context, both before their reign and after, and to dedicate time to their successors, birds. The writing is enhanced by the many high quality illustrations. I recognize many from Prehistoric Life but many stand out, especially dinosaurs in the Jurassic and Cretaceous, that are shown with more feathers and less scales that previous publications had, bringing these in line with our current understanding. All in all I would recommend this as a solid general reference in any library for this subject and a good starting point for those wanting to learn more.

Excellent illustrations and descriptions of prehistoric animals particularly for those children fascinated with dinosaurs like my grandchildren.
