Great for deterring birds from bathing in our pool and pooping on the patio around the pool!
These have been just what we needed! Our neighbor loves to feed birds and attracts large doves and pigeons in her yard and they make their way to my yard and pool. Out of desperation, we bought two of these to sit out at the pool on the beach entrance of the pool and the boulders at the other end to alleviate the bird poop problem we can't seem to solve as long as our neighbor feeds the birds. These devices have worked very well at keeping the birds from bathing and sitting at our pool edge. The solar panels work well and last a long time. We even had one land in the pool briefly at the start of a storm, and it still works! They are quiet and efficient.

Finally, Success at keeping the flying rats (pigeons) off my terrace. - Some modifications needed
We live in a NYC building where every apartment has a large terrace. Short of installing screening, for a significant cost, the terraces are unusable due to the pigeon population and the mess they make. I have tried everything from fake owls to shiny ribbons to deter these grey crapping machines and nothing works beyond a few days. In fact, the brazen birds will sit and ____ right on the owl once they realize it's fake.I have resorted to a combination of low- and high-tech equipment to keep these flying nuisances away. I installed spike strips all along the perimeter of the terrace, the railing and the divider between apartments. I purchased two ultrasonic, motion sensing bird repellers, and this solar bird repeller. Finally, pigeon and poop free.As some people have mentioned, the solar power option was totally useless for my application due to my terrace facing northeast. At most, it would receive about two usable hours of sunlight to charge the internal battery. I was simply rotating fully charged NiMH batteries every morning that would keep the unit running for 24 hours. This got old, real fast. So I opened the unit up and installed a 3V DC power supply and some isolation diodes to prevent the solar panel from being damaged. Now the unit runs 24/7 and the internal battery remains charged. Bird-B-Gone should consider offering a DC powered version of this product as it clearly does have a place.

Charge batteries & low wind
Even though I had it in direct sun for a day, it did not work all the way through the night. I removed the batteries and charged manually, but I also replaced with a higher MAH battery, that appears to have fixed the overnight issue.. The only other downfall is with fails to spin at Wind speeds above 5 miles an hour or more.Overall, it has deterred the geese from coming onto my platform. It would be nice if it would have a higher torque or spin motor for the wind speed issueUPDATE: now, after having it a little bit and even with the bigger storage batteries, it does not spin through the night. In the morning, it’s not spinning and has to charge up a little bit before it starts. Again with the wind speed of about 5 to 10 miles an hour, that also stops it from spinning continuously.Overall, the product seems to be working OK and so far have not had any geese on my dock.

Absolutely no support from the manufacturer
** BUYER BEWARE ** The product has potential but it ended up failing 3 months after purchase. I purchased the extended warranty and when I contacted Asurion, I was told it was still under the factory warranty and had to go thru Bird-B-Gone. I made contact with them and Billy said they would swap out the item however it was out of stock. As soon as it came back in stock, they would send me a new one… That was 4 MONTHS AGO! While their response is faulty quick to emails, their results are horrible and border lines fraudulent. After 3 months waiting, I offered a resolution. I asked if they would simply send me one of their “spider” bird repellers. It does the same thing but doesn’t spin. The response was “my manager would most likely give me push back as it’s not the same item”. No response and a month later I reached out only to get the cookie cutter response “I’m sorry you’re disappointed with my service” and had the ridiculous solution of going thru the extended warranty company that has already rejected the claim. Bummer that I lost out on a $50+ purchase
