Memorial Day test passed - excited to take this to the kids' games this summer
Bought this ahead of Memorial Day weekend with the kids' summer game schedule in mind. The weekend was the first real test and it earned its place in the rotation. We were outside for extended stretches and the Thermacell did what it advertises. No noticeable mosquito pressure in the zone it covers - which, for where we live this time of year, is meaningful.WHAT WORKS- It just works. Turn it on, give it a few minutes, the area becomes mosquito-quiet. No smoke, no citronella smell, no open flame to keep an eye on with kids running around.- Rechargeable is the right design choice. Not having to find batteries or fuel canisters every time you want to use it makes it actually usable, not aspirational.- Quiet. You forget it is running.- The portability is the part I am most excited about. Kids' football, baseball, and outdoor practices are exactly where I want this on the sidelines. No flame, no spray, just set it next to the chair and forget about it.WHAT DOES NOT- One weekend is not enough time to fully grade it. Memorial Day was the test. I will know more after a full summer of game-day use, and I will update this review if anything changes - durability of the unit, refill costs, whether the 20-foot zone holds up as advertised across longer sessions.- The 20-foot zone is a defined area, not a backyard-wide solution. If you have a large open space and people spread across it, you will want more than one. For a patio, a tailgate area, or a sideline chair cluster, the size is right.WHO IT IS FORAnyone with kids in summer outdoor sports, anyone who hosts on a patio in mosquito country, anyone who has been using citronella candles or spraying everyone down before they sit outside. If you need full-yard protection, you will need more than one unit - this is built for a defined zone where the people are sitting or standing.Five stars based on one weekend of use. Will come back and update after a full summer of game-day testing.

This little electronic bug-bot is worth every penny
We practically live on our porch. Meanwhile, our neighbors are world champion mosquito breeders. I have tried every 5 Star product that has promised to be the miracle solution I’m looking for, with mixed results. Coils, lanterns, sprays, sachets, oils, torches, foggers, and prayer. It was down to a choice between voodoo and this pricey little bug-bot and its rabbit hole of commitment to equally pricey refills.Desperation is a strong pry bar on even the tightest wallet.This. Thing. Works.I have no idea what they put in these vials, probably unicorn slobber and angel’s tears for how well it works. The label lists a lot of natural oils and any scent that comes out is faint and pleasant. You can see the warm vapors curling out the top. It’s sort of mesmerizing. This thing is so easy to use. It charges by USB cable and the charge lasts a decent amount of time. Turn it on and give it about 10-15 minutes to warm up and start defending the space. Our biggest problem with using it is remembering to turn it off when we’re done. Even if you’ve flattened it, the little lights will try to come on with their friendly little chirp and then chirp off again to indicate it needs a charge. It has a nice set of lights that let you know it’s on, or that it’s in warming phase.Cartridges are easy to replace. The lid lifts off easily and you just drop a new cartridge in. The cartridges last a decent amount of time. Just remember to keep extras on hand. There’s nothing much worse than sitting down on your deck or patio, confident in how well your little lightweight bug-bot is, only to get the disappointed “I need refilling” chirp.Speaking of lightweight, this fits easily in your hand and is lightweight, even with a full cartridge. It has an attractive shape with a flat bottom that sits well. I certainly wouldn’t want to drop it, though, as it feels a bit more fragile than I’d like. That’s probably my only real complaint about this little unit. When we finish adding a deck, I’ll be buying more of these. They may not work by killing the mosquitoes, but they certainly keep them away.

it works, but not a good long term solution
I live next to a river and just moved into a home with overgrown weeds, so my yard is infested with noseeums. Now, add a puppy into the mix where I have to take him out to the yard every hour in a day, I was covered in 100's of mosquito bites. Let's just say i was beyond suffering. So, i bought this thermacell. It worked OK. It went from 50 noseums biting me to maybe 3-5 of them. If it's windy, it doesn't work very well. Also, the liquid lasts for maybe 1 week. So it's an expensive solution. On top of using thermacell, i decided to add mosquito guard patio sticks. I'd light it and stick one in the thermacell to give double the protection. Still, that brought it down to 1-2 noseums. And trust me, 1-2 of these monsters are still terrible as they keep biting me. So i also added a 3rd item: colotte skin bath oil, and it worked, no more bites. However, this is not a great solution. As your skin is oily and you feel the need to shower afterwards, and your skin smells like baby powder.Best option was really wearing shoes, long pants, and wearing clothes to cover all my skin while suffering in the intense heat.4 stars because it helps to improve the situation, but expensive to keep using, and not a complete fix.Just cover up your skin, and put on any oil on your skin as noseeums do not like oil, and you are good. Thermacell is just a great addition to other things you are doing to prevent getting bit.

What a Joke! Very disappointed.
I purchased the E90 Rechargeable unit that claims a 9 hour battery life, and included a 12 hour repellent refill cartridge. It was delivered the day after I ordered it. Very quick! This cute little critter killer was easy to setup even though the instructions were NOT very clear, however, after waiting a ridiculously long time (over 4 hours) for it to charge enough to actually use, I was only able to use it for a couple of hours last night and less than one hour this morning. The "refill" cartridge included in the package was LESS than half full of repellent liquid (this can't be normal?) right out of the box. Once it had warmed up and started effusing the "mist", I only used it for a couple of hours, then went to bed. During the time it was in use, I did not get bitten by any mosquitos, but I have no idea if the little critters had simply stopped being active or if the repellent was actually working. Assumed I'd be able to get a better indication of its effectiveness the following morning.Well, it's now the following morning. After powering up the unit and waiting for it to begin effusing the mist, the mist lasted only about 20-30 minutes. So, I removed the top of the unit and looked at the cartridge which was completely EMPTY! This was supposed to be a 12 hour refill!! I got less than two and a half hours out of it. The battery charge indicator says its fully charged. This Thermacell E90 Mosquito Repeller might truly be effective in keeping the critters away, but I think the company owes me a free refill cartridge that is completely full and will actually last the full 12 hours claimed on the box and in their description.Very disappointed by this experience.THERMACELL??

bringing it to every outdoor gathering
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐I bought this specifically for camping and drive-in movie nights, and it worked perfectly! It kept mosquitoes away without any strong odors or sticky bug spray, so we could actually enjoy the nature. It’s compact, easy to set up, and lasted the entire evening. I’ll definitely be bringing it to every outdoor movie and camping trip from now on.
