Unique DAC- Very good performer
A unique approach for a DAC. I won't go into detailed product features and specs etc, suggest you read the marketing text. Essentially two DAC chips for the price of one! Excellent for comparisons. However, for most who listen too differing types of music swapping DACs is press one button on the remote to 'tune' your listening. The Douk Q11 allows the listener to switch between the ESS chip's clean open sound, or the warmer "Velvet" sound of the AKM chip. I will not suggest which is better for what! All of us hear differently. It's a pleasure to use and listen too all types of music. Of course it will not approach the likes of the more exotic DACs (like my D400EX) but at its price point it is very capable, and you get the unique aspect of both the ESS and AKM chips. Well worth the investment IMO if in the market for a DAC at this price point, indeed I would say it's a steal for ÂŁ149. Try this DAC, you will find it fun swirching chips! Visually it looks unique too with the blue internal light, clear window on the top of the case showing the circuitry, dual displays (which can be turned off) .... Importantly here this is a well engineered and manufactured DAC which looks, functions and sounds like a more expensive device. Also, it is upgradable by swapping Op Amps which can improve upon an already very good performance. (You will find plenty of advice on this aspect online.) Perhaps further insight into this device. I have three early teen children, brought up on quality audio. I had scoped three audio systems for them to use in their own space (no arguments.) All audio kit will colour sound. A while back we had a listening test to satisfy their preferred sound, during which we tested several DACs I had. These were an ESS, an AKM, a ROhm, and CS chipped DACs. They preferred the AKM just in front of the ESS. Along comes the Douk DAC which became a perfect choice. They are now delighted as they can tune the sound to their preference at any time, peaceful home!

Douk Audio Q11 Audio Bargain/Gem
Previous to getting this little audio gem I was using a MSB Link III and GDA-700 as DAC’s in my music systems. They were well reviewed DAC’s in their day and while they still sound great they are from a world before streaming and Hi-Res audio. So I decided it was time to upgrade to something more modern. Current DAC’s have a variety of features, options and come at various price points. This can be a overwhelming for someone re-entering the world of DAC’s s so after doing some research I thought the Douk Q11 was a sensible choice at a more than reasonable price. At a cost of $150 the Q11 is considered an entry level DAC but after putting it my system I can truly say it that it punches way above the entry level weight class. I am using it to stream music through my Bluesound Node 2i and as the outboard DAC for my Audiolab 6000CDT CD transport and works/sounds great in either role. The build quality is excellent and the setup a breeze. If you have been considering a stand alone DAC or looking to upgrade from an older one you would be hard pressed to do better with DAC’s that cost 5-6 times the cost of this one. I highly recommend this DAC for either a music or desktop system.

ottimo DAC.
