Okay, so I usually don't leave reviews, but this product is amazing! I have literally never painted anything in my life, and I was able to get the most amazing results. It does take you a couple of tries to get the right pressure and angles when dragging the tool, but it is sooooo easy to use. And for the price you really can't beat this. For reference on my vanity, the light wood is what I started with and the dark "wood" was the end result.

This tool works really well. Watching the video helped. I used antique glaze.

SUCH an awesome purchase. Used it to paint the ugly RV ceiling and it turned out looking awesome! Looks like real wood.

No instructions and had to google/youtube how to use it. I literally just got a clearly bag with rhem in it. Although I’m sure these are good I still have no idea how to use them because you tube wasn’t much help.. so currently on the hunt to learn how to use these .

I really wanted to love this tool, but it wasn’t nearly as easy to use as the videos make it look. I practiced quite a bit beforehand and followed the instructions carefully, but getting a natural, consistent wood-grain pattern was still difficult. You also have to be really careful with the pattern because it can quickly start looking like old, outdated oak rather than a modern wood grain. Ours came out much heavier and more pronounced than we wanted, and we ended up having to go back over it with several additional coats to tone it down. It does work and creates a convincing wood texture, but there’s definitely a learning curve. Practice first, use a light hand, and don’t expect the effortless one-pass results you see in the videos.

I am going around my house trying to figure out what else I can paint to make look like wood! I used these for the table top and seat of a child-size table and chairs. We haven’t assembled yet, as I still need to paint the table legs. But I am so impressed. This was so easy too. I did a quick practice round on cardboard (I think I saw this suggested in a comment on here or somewhere… I did lots of research) I painted my table a light color and then when fully dried, I went over with a darker taupe/gray and ran the wood graining tool through it. Then after it dried for 48 hours, I put an antique gel on top to give it a stained wood look. All products used were Heirloom Traditions (if you’re looking for a great product).

This was perfect- even for a newbie- I replaced an exterior wood door with a fiberglass door and wanted it to look like a wood door. We painted it with a lighter brown pecan color I hated it. I came here purchased these tools and a dark chocolate brown exterior paint. I used a small sponge roller, painted the dark color over one section then used the various tools to drag and rock over the wood. If I messed it up- I just re sponged painted it and tried it again. I plan to do the interior side as well but with much lighter colors. I’m very happy with the results. I will also use a small paint brush next time for the harder to reach areas.

I use these for furniture refinishing and they create an amazingly realistic wood-grain effect. If I could suggest one improvement - a rigid grip or handle would help keep the tools evenly flat against the surface.
