If I remember correctly, silica helps the plant heal from the natural movement of being in a outdoor environment. Hardy stalks, bark, and things like that. Silica is one of those things that can be a hole in an otherwise good collection of base nutrients. Will you be able to see any difference? Don't know. I added it when I upgraded all my nutes, so I can't be sure of specific results. The master growers I follow always use it, so I do.
