High quality holster. It’s way too tight when you get it, but that allows you to fit it to your pistol and mag. That just takes some Saran wrap and a little time, and it fits perfectly. Nice stiff leather, with great stitching and beautifully finished. As much as I like kydex, a 1911 just needs leather.

Excellent Holster... I was looking for a holster for a new Springfield full size 1911, when I heard of 1791 Leather. I own Several Desantis holsters, and my main gripe with them is when you draw your weapon, the opening partially closes. That is due to a thinner leather they use that is not near as stiff as it should be. This holster /mag holder combo from 1791 fits the bill perfectly. It holds my weapon safely & securely and allows me to re-holster my weapon easily as the opening holds it's shape. The stitching, form & fit, and overall craftsmanship is top notch, and I got a lot more bang for my buck with this company. The product was described as fitting any full size 1911 w/5" barrel and no accessory rail. This is spot on & accurate. I deviated from the break-in procedure that came with the holster, because my method is proven over the years. My method works for for any leather holster, provided it is as tight as it should be in the beginning. I start by heating the holster with a blow dryer, concentrating on the openings for the weapon and magazine. Once the holster is warmed thoroughly, I wrapped wax paper around the weapon and inserted it gently with pressure, but not forcing it. I did the same with the magazine. I leave the wax paper wrapped gun and magazine in the holster overnight. The next morning I remove the gun, magazine, and wax paper. Reinstall the gun and magazine, perfect snug fit... I couldn't ask for anything else. Good protection for my 1911, and good looks for the rest of the world to see. And Thanks for the bonus keychain! That was a nice touch.

Excellent holster and fits my carry weapon like a glove with very little work-in time. I would purchase this or other holsters from this company again.

Absolutely beautiful, full-grained leather. Liked the design when I ordered it but when you hold it in your hand you realize the holster is true, HIGH quality. One note, FOLLOW THE BREAK-IN PROCEDURE. It will further mold the leather to your gun. Otherwise the fit is too snug to be able to draw the gun with any sort of ease, should you need it. I used the wife's blow dryer to heat the leather a bit and it made the "fitting" procedure even easier. Not too close with the blow dryer! On Medium about a foot away, turning the leather front then back until it's just WARM. Well, that's what I did and it worked. After fitting the weapon to the new leather I warmed it up again and actually wore it to help it mold to my body shape. A useful and beautiful purchase. HIGHLY recommended. Semper Fidelis, brothers.

Very high quality but I have 2 issues with it, first it is very large and I have to stagger the belt loops to get it to fit without bunching up. Second make sure you test fit it before you break it in! My sig "we the people" would've fit perfectly before the break in process but I did it before checking and now there is no retention left in the holster. Gun still fits, just comes out very easily. Looks killer though.
