vigorous and healthy!
Wow these crowns were real troopers after their first year under horrible growing conditions. I planted them as soon as the ground thawed and then there was another month of brutal cold. There was no growth for a long long time and I eventually gave up and planted an ornamental in the bed. Fast forward to end of June (right in the middle of a 3-week drought) and low-and-behold pencil size asparagus started popping up from every one of the crowns! Consistently for the rest of the summer new spears popped up fatter and fatter. By mid-September each plant had a good 10 stalks with the last to emerge as thick as my thumb. Wonderful, robust crowns! Shout out to THIS seller!

Tasty, and Hearty.
Bought these 3 years ago. I am in the high desert in Cali. I lost a couple along the way (my fault) (I am NOT zoned for Asparagus) but the plants did well...I am re-ordering...it is SUPER TASTY.....I may build an attached greenhouse to grow these puppies in, along with Strawberries. Highly recommended. I waited 1-2 years before 1st Harvest...worth the wait. I could have probably harvested the first year,... but I am an overachiever ;)

Healthy roots that all sprouted
All roots that were planted have sprouted and are healthy plants. I had tried big box store roots originally with little success. These roots all arrived healthy looking and larger/fuller looking than others. Planted as instructed in the description and they have been thriving.

Good product
Oboe 1-2 didn’t sprout! Pretty good odds I would say!

Healthy plants
The asparagus started growing spears at two weeks. It’s beautiful and healthy. My only concern is that I ordered Mary Washington asparagus, the green kind. What is growing here is purple. I don’t know if that is normal when it’s young or not. It does not appear to be unhealthy, but none of the review pictures show purple asparagus.

Excellent
Order of 5 two-year crowns contained 7 crowns because a couple were small. I planted them per the instructions within 24 hours of receiving. Within a week 6 of the 7 crowns had stalks poking up through the soil. The 7th crown is a dud (I may have inadvertently broken off the sprout tip when planting), but I'm still very pleased to have 6 live crowns for the price of 5. Two of the 6 plants are female (several weeks after shoots emerged, two went to seed); female asparagus won't produce as heavily as males, which is a bummer...but that's what you get when you opt for heirloom varieties instead of newer hybrids! Overall excellent product, well-packaged, and fast shipping.

Never SAW A FERN OF ANY SIGN OF A PLANT
It’s been a year and I marked the spots of the asparagus roots with large orange stakes and never saw a fern. Never saw any asparagus. Still have the stalk markers near the planting. SAD, because I even called them to make sure I was planting them and watering them properly.

Very healthy plant!
I ordered this asparagus on May 20, 2025. After just 5 days, I noticed that3 of the plants had already started to grow! 😊I am very pleased with my purchase and will definitely order more soon.
