Red O-ring works
Worked great on improving my 2005 Tahoe's oil pressure and preventing the lifter tick that Chevys are known for. The old o-ring was worn and not sealing well. The engine is quieter now, plus during installation, I was able to check for any build-ups with sludge or any issues inside the bottom of the engine. Easy installation, and torque values are readily available online. This o-ring is actually red in color.

FEL-PRO 72401 O-Ring!
This O ring was installed on a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 that I've owned since 2010 which had only 60k back then now 104k never had low oil pressure! I have tried to preserve this classic sense the day I bought it had passenger side lifter tick even when it only had 60k but already 10 years old sometimes its lifters most of the time it's this pickup tube seal there silicone material from the factory lots of kits will include a new one and guess what it's made of silicone not fel-pro it's a good one bought one back in 2018 and never used it until now it's a black one there new ones are red but there better than the red silicone ones it's not shiny like silicone no tick can't be leave it I did this job at 57yr old take your time drop the front axle disconnect the drive axles tilt the third member forward and it will drop down just enough to get the oil pan down I also RTV the gasket in place on the four corners first before I stabbed the oil pan back in 24 hrs later just to the engine block it was bolted in just the gasket 8 bolts on the four corners of the gasket it was way easer to install the oil pan don't over tighten the two rear bolts long ones hand tighten with 1/4 Ratchet all other I went 1/4 ratchet then 3/8 6inch handle no torque wrench!! 500mi no leaks with amazon's cheapest gasket! it will leak if over tightened especially with a torque wrench!

Worth changing every time you drop the oil pan
Had to repair a leaking oil pan gasket in my 01 gmc 1500 2wd 5.3. Typical best practice is to clean out your pickup tube and change this O ring out. This replaced one i put in about 10 years ago. While i still maintained good oil pressure, i dod have a lifter tick at cold idle. This immediately reduced the noise from the lifter. The size was perfect and for sub $3 delivered to my door is the best value for the money you will find. Felpro is always my go to gasket on any component, especially if it is a complicated part. I have been impressed with the quality and this was less than half what the parts houses charge.

Believe in yourself
If you buy this then you know what you are in for lol. But I promise you if you're handy with tools and watch a few YouTube video and follow through with installing this then your 5.3 will be so much happier and quieter plus it will live so much longer. Mine had a tick in the motor that was very loud. Completely gone now that you can hardly hear it running. So happy I went through with it. Will save you thousands of $ if you do it your self. My first time doing it took me eight hours and I took my time cleaning everything spotless plus stripped and painted my cross member.

Fit Perfect
Just like the OEM part. No leaks.

Works Perfectly
It's ridiculous that a $4 part is so important to the functioning of a $31K car, and that it's such a pain to replace. (It's also ridiculous that the price went up $1 between the search and the payment, which is why it's not 5 stars.) That said, it's in place and working fine.

FELPRO quality part. Fixed my engine ticking
Bought to replace oil pick up O-ring which was allowing air in. Did the job no more lifter ticking.

A real, VITON O-ring vs. the cheap Silicone GM ring
This replacement is 75-80 Durometer Viton Fluorocarbon (FKM), vs. the Silicone (VMQ) teflon-coated red factory replacement O-Ring. Viton is a far better material that will resist compression set (that squared-off appearance of the old O-Ring is compression set). I initially bought the 12484922 Red GM O-Ring, but after feeling it I realized that it was made of cheap silicone and would do what the original one did, no matter how well it was installed. Since it is a PITA to replace, I wanted the best, longest-lasting material. Amazingly, it was also the lowest-price version! The GM part has red teflon coating over a blue silicone ring. Tip: Add vaseline or Super Lube to the O-Ring before installation, and realize that it will still fit very snugly - that's good, because an airtight seal at the oil pump inlet is absolutely critical to your engine's survival! As usual, Fel-Pro makes a better-than-original part.

Looks durable and was easy to fix once I got all the stuff off to get to it. A big job to replace such a small part. I hope I never have to do that again.

I threw away the blue o-ring that cane with my brand new GM pick-up tube and used this one instead. I trust Fel-Pro.
