So easy to use. I use them as an educational event for my day care.. Review: Caterpillars arrived and all seemed fine. It came with instructions that were easy to follow. A few were moving but they tell you they might not move for a day or 2. I’ll update once they turn into butterfly’s or if anything goes wrong. Editing to report back on our complete journey! We ended up with 14 caterpillars, 14 chrysalis and 14 butterflies! I was shocked! We were given a few extra and I couldn’t believe that they ALL transformed. I assumed there would be a few that didn’t make it. I will admit I did not follow the instructions given. I opened the cups and placed them inside of our butterfly habitat on their side. I added some branches and foliage from our maple tree outside. I wanted the caterpillars to have room and options as to where to make their chrysalis but still have access to their food. You should follow the instructions from the company (but this is what worked for us). My 3 year old loved the experience of seeing each one come out of the chrysalis (although she did miss 2 they emerged early morning before she was awake) and letting each one go was so rewarding. A few hung around our garden for a while until they were ready to spread their wings! I highly recommend these caterpillars!

This journey has been so fun to watch and explore, my kids absolutely enjoyed every second of watching the life cycle of a caterpillar. 🐛We have 3 butterflies currently (As I'm writing this another one hatched so now we have 4.) but we are hoping for all of them to have made it. We did lose the log you were suppose to set the chrysalis' in so l hand made a solution to that 😂 I cut open a hefty cup and put tape around the opening so it's a smooth edge and the butterflies won't hurt their wings, Then I placed the paper the chrysalis' are attached to on top and taped the paper onto the cup. The final step was putting something heavy on the bottom of the cup so it wouldn't tip over when the butterflies come out. So I placed a rock that my son had and a shell that we found at the beach in them. And now we shall wait for more to hatch We will wait for their wings to dry and to make sure they are eating before releasing them into the wild for them to live happily ever after! Thank you for everyone that has been keeping up with our butterfly journey! We will keep updating as time goes on! Also we had a caterpillar that was significantly smaller than the rest when we first got them. He’s still alive but growing a lot slower than the rest. He’s still in the cup with food and I’m going to try everything I can to help him get to become a butterfly 🦋

It was so interesting watching them develop from larves, to pupas to gorgeous butterflies.

Ordered 2 containers of 5. One was fine, the other food/sand was broken up and unfortunately squished 3 of them which was upsetting for child they were bought for 😬. They are growing so fast as soon in the photos, they look to double on size each day. We bought the kit (home) separately, so we are waiting for the next stage to then transport them to the kit home ( pin them ). I will add another photo with updates. *Be mindful of the time of year you get them based on Season/Weather. If it's going to be under 60° you can't let them free. We are Upper East coast so these are a late spring/ Summer experience. Update: This was such a beautiful experience, we had to wait a bit for the weather to warm up but we sent almost all of them free. A few had beat up wings and I could see they weren't going to travel well. They did however leave us to raise the next generation. Added a new photo... we have eggs and I dont know exactly when to do. When getting the caterpillars they were give a container of food to live in. Any suggestions? Can we order food from you guys?
