The general use foot has a black knob/button on the side that is supposed to allow you to lock the foot at the higher position, to be used if the fabric isn't advancing due to a high area such as a thick seam. however it hasn't worked for me far more times than it has. **Q: I am a quilter and am waiting delivery for my Brother HC1850.
