Seiko SRP53 Watch
I got this watch to replace an older Seiko Kinetic. I wanted a watch that was mechanical, automatic, and that had ability to be wound manually in the event it wasn't worn every day. I like the Seiko brand and decided I'd give this model a try. I'm happy with the fit - I did take it to a Seiko dealer to have the band adjusted. It has a few 1/2 sized links that allow for a customization of the fit. I have a medium size wrist so the watch case at ~42mm is a bit larger than I'm accustomed to with my older Kinetic at ~36mm. The case thickness is 11mm and the weight is noticeably heavier, I was concerned that this might bother me - but it's completely comfortable on my wrist and I don't really notice the increased size in wearing it. The workmanship is top notch, it is elegant, refined and not too flashy. So it's perfectly suited for either casual wear or dress. I like the textured very light blue face which appears at times either bluish or matte silver grey depending on the light. The dark blue steadily sweeping second hand really stands out in contrast with the stainless minute and hour hands that blend more into the background in some lighting but then with a slight shift of the wrist take on a higher contrast. The stainless steel band has a split style closure that is very easy to learn and comfortable. The crown is large and easy to operate whether winding ( which I do regularly) or setting, time or date. My only pet peeve is the date window which could have been a tad larger. Another caveat is to advise that unless you wear this watch daily, or give it a bit of a wind every day it is liable to stop. In which case you'll need to reset the time, etc. It is not a hassle for me to wind a watch occasionally. Compare that to a quartz movement watch which will require a battery replacement every 2 years, or a solar powered or kinetic watch which will require a rechargeable battery replacement less frequently but at a much higher cost and some down time for servicing. Lastly I have to comment on the price. I was surprised that I could get this Presage brand new (warranty eligible) through an Amazon dealer at about 25% below Seiko's list price of $525 and this is one with a sapphire crystal which much more scratch resistant. Would recommend!

Subtle distinguished value
One of the least expensive watches in my collection but not at all embarrassed by the comparison. Seiko has managed a tasteful and elegant yet unfussy dress watch. The light blue dial is as calming as a summer sky and the slender leaf hands elegant in bright silver. The downturned lugs and supple bracelet make for a very comfortable fit on my 6 3/4” wrist. Love the neatness of the butterfly clasp as well. Date window is placed on the 6 o’clock (my favorite position) and is even detailed with a silver border - nice detail. Even the contrasting sweeping second hand in iridescent deep blue is a tasteful choice. That Seiko can provide all of this in an AUTOMATIC with a sapphire crystal and exhibition case back for under $400 is an incredible value. Highly recommended.

Photos don't do this one justice.
Beautiful watch. Adjusted the band and its a perfect fit that wears very comfortably. Now I want another Seiko. This one was worth the extra money just for the sapphire crystal. Happy with this purchase overall.

Check dial diameter before buying
Make sure you check the size of the dial and compare it to your favorite watch. I am 6’ tall and 190lbs and to my eye the dial looks a little big on me (my wrists are fairly thin). It is just millimeters bigger than my favorite watch. Very classy and attractive. If you have multiple watches, you might want to look at the electric watch winding gadgets. It is a pain to advance the date on this watch if it runs down. This is an old school mechanical watch that winds itself when your arm moves. If it sits for long it will wind down. The transparent back is very cool.
