Does it fold completely flat? (The pictures show and intermediate/middle fold position)

Yes, the stool folds completely flat. Excellent choice for a bathroom stool for my granddaughter to reach the sink when brushing her teeth. Stool folders up complete flat for easy storage.

What is the exact width when folded? I have a narrow tray cabinet I want it to fit in.

12” width when folded. Love my little stepping stool. I weigh 170lbs and it holds my weight.

Does it lock so it can’t easily collapse and pinch little fingers?

I don't think it locks, but it collapses very easily by pulling on the indented handle in the middle. Just hold the handle and pull up and it collapses. I suppose if a hand or finger was holding onto a side, it might get pinched, but I don't imagine that happening. Collapses very easily just by pulling on the handle and it stays collapsed. Very handy little stool to have around.
