SOMA Double Wall Glass Tea and Coffee Cold Brew Bottle, Black, 12oz (SM18501K)

I gave this to my husband for his birthday. He loves cold brew coffee, and the serving size, ease of use and approachability of this brew bottle made it a great fit. He liked it and used it daily! A few days ago (less than 3 months after purchase), our brew bottle did not crack or shatter as others have shared. Instead, a mysterious tiny hole appeared in the inner wall at the bottom of the bottle. This hole was allowing liquids to move from the inside of the bottle to the air space between the layers of glass. No more insulation! We did not physically drop the bottle, place it in the dishwasher or put it through any extraordinary cold-to-hot temperature abuse. I personally feel this bottle is highly functional and beautifully designed. It's also expensive for what it is--- a daily commuter-type thermos. So, I was disappointed to have it break so quickly. However, I encourage anyone who has such an issue with their bottle to visit soma.com and send a message via the chatbot and/or help form. I received a cordial, helpful response from a representative within a couple hours and was invited to simply share my desired shipping address to receive a full replacement bottle. To be totally candid--- I wasn't even asked to provide an order number or any actual proof of purchase. In my original message, I only included one of the attached images showing the hole. This bottle is beautiful, functional, sort of expensive, but very well supported by a company that clearly cares to take of its customers.

Cold brew coffee is my favorite method as it produces less acid and allows for a smoother finish. Delish. This is perfect for a single serving or if you are like me can last 2 days as I try to limit to 6 oz full caffiene coffe. Note that preground coffee can be too fine and can allow grounds to get through the filter. I started buying whole beans and do a med grind. Result is zero grounds in my cold brew!

I can't comment too much on the filter functionality as I make my cold brew in big batches via other means. (Would it be fresher if I just pre-ground the beans, then brewed daily? Might have to experiment...) Anyway, what I can say is that this thermos is beautiful and definitely keeps my iced cold brew cold for hours even in this summer heat. It functions perfectly for my use, though--minor gripe--it would be nice if the lid was just one piece. It is easy to clean due to being dishwasher-safe. When I broke my first after a year of use, I stupidly ordered another one before finding out that they would've replaced it for free. I love this thermos so much that I absolutely needed a new one. Now for the downside. Yes, Soma was gracious enough to replace both of my broken thermoses. And yes, I said "both" because as soon as I received my new thermos, I promptly let it slip out of my hands where it dropped a couple of inches, shattering all over the counter and floor just like the first one did except this time with a full bottle of cold brew. I'm still emotionally scarred from that incident. Even though Soma has sought to make me whole again, at this price it seems like if they intended for these to be at all mobile, they would make them out of tempered glass or something that doesn't completely shatter upon impact. Overall though, I'd rate 4.5 if I could, but have to round down to 4 for Amazon. Thank you for reading my review, I hope I have helped. :)

This bottle was way too expensive for what it is. The filter is good but very slow. The lid can appear to be closed but really isn't. Make sure that you really close it or you are in for a spill! Today, I tripped on my way to work. The bottle barely dropped (maybe a few inches to the ground) inside of my canvas lunch bag. It immediately shattered and the full contents leaked all over the train station. I'm not sure why you would sell something that is really branded as a travel mug that does not have Pyrex or some other durable glass product to hold hot liquids. I can't recommend this item to anyone unless you plan to use it in your kitchen only. There are many preferable travel products that I would recommend over this one such as the Bubba brand stainless steel with ceramic core. It holds the temperature for hours as opposed to Soma which barely holds the temperature for 30 minutes...

Got this for my son....he uses it every day and loves it. So happy with this purchase.

I really like the ease of this product. I can make my own pour over coffee on a weekday and head out the door. Easy clean up and the glass is excellent quality. I highly recommend for someone with a busy morning, but still wants great tasting coffee.

This thing is so neat. It gives you the perfect pour over coffee on the go. Has a smoother flavor than my kcup pods. Really enjoying it. The glass is very thick.

Very nice bottle, keeps my tea nice and hot for a while and is easy to use. The lid can be a little annoying to put back on properly but does the job.
