Will this fire to cone 6 in a ceramic piece?

Yes. I use this wire to make hooks for ornaments and fire them to cone 6.

Does this contain nickel?

No the Kanthal wire does not. Kanthal is a trade name for FeCrAl which is the alloy consisting of Iron (Fe), Chromium (Cr), and Aluminum (Al). So Nickel free. I have severe nickel allergies and have done the research and order this particular brand regularly. If that is why you are asking buy with confidence.

Can this wire be used to heat a furnace?

I cannot answer that question. I CAN tell you that I heat it in glass fusing projects in temps as high as 1400 degrees. It’s great!
