Valuable insight for a newbie
Still reading the book, but that which I've read has insight and value. I haven't seriously camped since Girl Scouts as a little girl. Only once prior on the motorcycle in a friend's backyard. I'm prepping for 2 trips this summer. This book is offering knowledge I didn't have.

packing techniques and camp set up & packing lists
Greatbook! Would be better if another updated volume would be published and color photos. Great reference book. I served 30 years on Active Duty Army Special Operations and definitely rely on good reference books, but am NOT a good writer other wise I'd like to write my own book. I have the equipment, experience, just have to take time. Anyway......Great books, I especially like the "tid bits" from the Boy Scout manuals and other OLD school field craft/common sense. That book is a must read even if a person is an "expert". Really doesn't need an update. Packing Lists, etc...Good to Go! I Highly Recommend for your garage library, especially a novice rider & novice outdoorsman!

For those of us who love motorcycles; the sense of freedom combined with a sense adventure and old school spirit, this is a great book. There is something special about a book like this. Yes, we can read from our smartphones, computers, tablets, etc., but holding this book in my hands made me look forward to holding onto my bars enjoying every mile, like I enjoyed every page.

Useful and enjoyable book for motorcycle camping
I am a long-time enthusiastic camper, and even so, I learned a few things by going over this book. Besides, it is fun to read, a source of tickling for the next adventure, and a good resource to share with other fellow campers. I keep it close to my reading seat, to enjoy every so often.

Good for beginners
If you're a beginner to motorcycle camping, this book is nice. If you're a beginner to camping and to motorcycle camping, this book is an amazing read. For me, with experience with motorcycle camping, the book really only added a few things to my knowledge. However, I sometimes tow a trailer (yes motorcycles can tow trailers), and this book was actually fairly useful to me.So, if you're a beginner, it's a 5-star purchase. It really helps you do everything from buying the right equipment to planning. I've read a few of the other motorcycle camping books, and this is the best, by far. If you're experienced, I'd pass, although for the price, it might give you enough suggestions (and even if you're experienced, that doesn't mean someone can't give you advice to do things better) to make it worth it. If you're doing some camping pulling a Bushtec or other brand trailer, this book is fairly useful. My rating is a balance between the usefulness for me and the usefulness for a brand new motorcycle adventurer!

Motorcycle touring/camping book
This book answers questions about touring and camping while on a motorcycle. Has a host of great tips and I would recommend it to anyone thinking about or actually camping while traveling on a motorcycle. It is also useful for any type of camping.

Excellent - even on topics that not all moto campers will need
Overall, this is an excellent book. It covers EVERYTHING that conceivably is relevant to camping while motorcycle touring. Some reviewers have legitimately noted that if you carry everything the author suggests, and do everything he writes about, you'll never find enough room to carry it all, even if you pull a motorcycle trailer. However, I think that concern is unfair to the author. He needed to cover everything in case some readers do want to do some of the specific things he covers, even if many will not. Otherwise, the book is not a "complete" guide. In terms of detail, he is excellent in covering all the nuances of each activity, and in alerting the reader to possible things that could go wrong. I was very satisfied with the content and writing style, and feel much better prepared now for the grand motorcycle touring I am envisioning!

Crank that Throddle
Lots of great ideas and tips. Only down fall was the majority of the book was State side info. It would be fantastic if there was a Canadian version as well.

Useful reference book.
Even though the author has made a pass at orienting this work for a wider global audience, it is still very much an American perspective on camping, and geared to larger cruisers with higher carrying/towing capacity. In spite of this there are some very useful tips and ideas on gear and 'how to do it', and the lists are very useful reference points.A worthwhile addition to any shelf of motorcycling books from an author of longtime experience.
