Fun kit, minor problems.
This was a fun kit to build, although I did have a few problems getting the jack plug to fit properly. The tone control closest to the jack, interfiered with plug fitment. I replaced all the pots and the jack with a active EQ harness, so had to mod the jack hole anyway. I stained the body deep purple then finished to a semi-gloss using Tru-Oil. The Swamp Ash body had a nice thickness, but wasn't too thick yo be super heavy. The neck was flat and true. Tuners were better than expected, with smooth movement even under tension. The bridge was solid and heavy, like the Ibanez 305 series bridges. I rrplaced mine simply for the esthetic that I was going for.

Itโs an ok kit.
The kit was complete and the neck was pretty good. I had to set two frets because they were about .010โ too high compared to the adjacent frets. The ends of the frets were very nicely finished and beveled. The holes for the pickups were too small and had to be chiseled out about 1/16โ to fit the pickups. The Jack is recessed into the body which gives a nice clean look but the nut on the inside is difficult to tighten because it is very close to the tone potentiometer. Overall the kit is better than other guitar kits I have built. You will need some special tools to build this kit but it sounds great now that I am done.

Read the instructions
#1 and most importantly, follow the directions. Step 1 is to make sure all the parts are there. Very important, as I've had two kits in a row without pickup springs. Secondly, make sure the wiring is correct. Sometimes it comes pre wired and it's different than the wiring diagram. 4 stars because my daughter loved it so much.

Rolled back to four stars
Better quality than would have thought. Neck is fabulous. Frets are very well dressed. Neck is laminated. Just realized as am finishing. Well done scarf joint though, at headstock. Electronics not very high quality. Expect at this price point. But a stereo input jack was included. It is defective and has to be swapped for a mono plug. Terrible ground hum.
